  1. Evening folks, I’m running 3.2.16, I don’t know what setting I have caught but I am stuck on the mini player and cannot open the home / library page? I have also noticed that in Preferences, I now do not have a tab for library but one for iTunes! Can anyone help me get back to the normal home / library page?
  2. I use an LPS by a company called Longdog Audio here in the UK and retailed by MCRU. certainly made a difference. All these tweaks such as jitterbugs, Wyred 4 sound recovery etc all seem to add small differences which add up.
  3. I updated to 2.35 yesterday. Being a techno phobe my Brooklyn was at 2.06 from when first purchased. There seems to be quite a big jump in sound quality from the original software.
  4. The vinyl copy I have is certainly better. Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  5. Just dragged out Joe Jacksons "Body and Soul", I forgot what dynamic range this album has , Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  6. I use an HD PLEX with my modified Mac mini and was very pleased with it. Just the currency rates at the moment Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  7. I have had the LPS from MCRU for a few months now and can certainly recommend it. The Brooklyn as stated in other replies was already good. As with the majority of improvements such as adding the Wyred 4 sound recovery, the silences become blacker and it seems to have more depth and rhythm. More musical if you like. What I would like to know now is how much would a unit that betters the Brooklyn and LPS cost? Sent from my iPad using Computer Audiophile
  8. I usually disconnect the Dac USB cable to use the port when down loading a cd into Audiovana on my Mac mini. When connecting the USB cord back up To the Dac I get "garbled", noises out. To rectify this I have found I have to disconnect the power cord on the Brooklyn for a few seconds, power back up and reselect the Dac. I am still on the original software for the Brooklyn due to the problems others have had and It does what I require. When everyone is happy I may then update. Hope this helps, Roy.
  9. I'm looking forward to having a play. I've had the Brooklyn a couple of months or so now and have been listening to it directly into my power amps until I was used to the sound, as I have been adding the Wyred 4 sound recovery, cables and an LPS for my Mac mini. Yesterday I wired it through my valve pre-amp just before I left to travel off shore for work. It certainly sounded sweeter with greater depth and space between the instruments. I'm looking forward to having a play with the settings when I get back home in a couple of weeks, whilst I'm ordering a LPS!
  10. I've been looking at at a LPS from a company called MCRU here in the UK which I have heard good things about. It will have to be next month as I have just replaced my mains leads to my power amps.
  11. Just put the Mytek through my CR Developments Charisma pre amp for the first time and initial results sound good. As a few people before have said it sounds better being run through a pre amp. I still can't think why as straight lines are usually preferable?
  12. Just plugged in a Wyred 4 sound Recovery between the Mac mini and Brooklyn. Amazed at the immediate tightening of the sound, I thought it was pretty good before. Just waiting for my HD Plex supply coming for the Mac and solid state storage. Looks like I'll be saving for another for the Mytek next.
  13. Sounds like something a gentleman called Peter Belt in the UK was up a number of years back. He is well worth a Google. What he did worked to my ears, but as an engineer it certainly messed with my head!
  14. Hi folks, Not me with the Oppo, I'm running a valve "CR Developments Carmenta", Pre-amp which is only RCA. Running through the pre amp is my next trial as I've read earlier in the thread a couple of guys prefer the sound this way. I'll let you know how I get on.
