  1. This is some Bull@##$% I just had my unit repaird and paid for them to reflash the last 52 update. Now they release a new one to fix it. I should sue them for a refund.
  2. Yeah I know If I really wanted to be a pain in the @#$$ I could and force the repair via legal ways. But honestly my time is more valuable to just put it behind me. And this is not the first run with a Sony product that yielded in them not wanting to honor something based on warranty that should be covered if the fault was not mine. But I'm tired, I have no faith is Sony anymore or Audio products from the company. The state of customer service this day and age is terrible. Companies screw up and don't own up to take ownership of their mistakes. As a consumer, I have the choice to not purchase from them anymore. Like I mentioned previously there is a reason why they are selling off everything. No worries
  3. Just got a response from Sony to United Radio. Even though I sent proof of purchase from the online and CC statement Sony do not want to own up to the error. They do not want to cover the repair "even though I did not break it" The response is not from a authorized store or retailer. I was like what does that got to do with the currupt sofware update from your servers?. This has been a dissapointing ordeal and I'm sad to say I will limit my purchase of sony products from this day forth. I do not want to be put in this situation in the future so it's best to avoid it. I will pay for the "re-flash repair" out of pocket and sell this unit. I have already purchased a replacement from another brand. I also have a Sony Map -s1 I will sell off as well. So looks like I'm one who was not as lucky, please take note with your future purchases. Thanks guys.
  4. Yeah I am trying to keep on Sony about it. They are in denial. telling me the firmware is fine. I then pointed them again to this forum and other forums saying ok, if its fine why are so many people having the same issue? I been bounced around so much I feel like no one at Sony wants to take the responsability. Sad to say I don't think I want to purchase another Sony product in the future. As I think about it, there just not the Sony company they use to be. Explains why they are selling off all there devisions. I'm thinking of paying for the firmware repair and selling it. I have been looking at the Yamaha units, Onkyo, Technics and Panasonic. They have some nice network units for around the same cost or less. Anyone interested in a used Hap-s1
  5. I called sony and was told to send it to United Radio. They diagnosed the unit to have a faulty firmware. They reinstalled the firmware and said it functions as it should now. But get this sony don't want to cover the repair and United wants to charge me $125-145 for a firmware reflash that I did not break in the first place. What do you guys think? should I be responsible to pay this I was not the one who broke it, it was sony's bad firmware upgrade from sony. If I broke my unit then no problem but I had no part in it.
  6. I'm glad you have your unit fixed. I decided to stop waiting and say something. I thought about it why do i need to wait when i did not break it. I called to see what can be done after some time with tech support troubleshooting it still does not work and i just got another number to call. We will see how that goes. I will keep you posted.
  7. Did you ever get a solution to your unit repair?
  8. In warranty or out of warranty should not make any difference when it is not the users fault. I have come to realize that Sony is not the company it once was. In all of there products quality and reliability is taking a hit. And customer service is not as good either. I'm also out of warranty, and I really don't feel like a valued customer after paying $1000 plus for a unit that craps out from an update. Then support for the unit wants us to pay for it. I had enjoyed my Hap-s1 for months with no problems, then that last update came. After it updated it shut down and restarted itself. Everything was fine for about 2 hours then crashed locked up. I powered down, restarted and now can't copy or play any music. I restored it over 5 times no luck. I called a service center said it was the hard drive. So i replaced the hard drive and .... No luck! I did manage to power up and navigate the menu without a hard drive in the unit and plugg up one via USB to see if it would play external. Nope, nada this made me know for sure it was the firmware. The firmware flashes the chipset i think and that is the operating system for the unit. I hope they release a new update with the service firmware ending in 57 to fix the issues. One thing to note is my unit is running off wifi, next update i will use ethernet to make sure i get a clean update. I'm going to wait it out for a while but if no resolution comes about i will just sell all my sony equipment and choose another brand.
  9. I do not believe it is the HDD. I replaced it with a new one re-formatted with the player and the same thing. It is the firmware. And yes, you can operate it without the hard drive installed. I did it, everything works the same as far as the system menu and settings. You just can't browse music because the hard drive was not present. And while the hard drive was not installed I was still getting the internet radio errors. Did not matter if the drive was there or not the same issues existed. Leading me to know its definitely there shotty firmware update. I have had the player for months with no issue then that dam firmware came through worked for a few hours then crashed. now i can not get any music to play or copy over. Sony if you are listening send another firmware hopefully the previous one so we can re-flash over the last buggy update.
  10. I tried with no drive. Same issues, must be the firmware flash. I have called sony and they insist I send it to a repair center. But I don't feel I should pay for it, after all I was not the one who broke it in the first place. Why should we need to pay when its there firmware that broke it. It was perfectly fine before that last update.
  11. Then I suspect they will need to be reflashed directly. Or reinstall the firmware i prefer the old over the new one. It just worked. But the trouble is sony took the firmware download link away. They should have let us update it from USB. I don't want to risk my unit getting damaged in shipping either. I called and they wanted me to send it in to a repair center. what happen if you turn it on without a hard drive?
  12. I sent you a message. I was searching around today and came accross an interesting find. Apparently there is another hidden menu that needs to be done from rest before power on. I am not at home now but if you are maybe you can try this and let me know if clearing the database works: Help Guide | Other messages Help Guide | Using the Clear Database function or the Reset to Default Settings function (Special Mode)
  13. Hey, did you ever get this resolved? I just had the update and about an hour later I am having the same problems.
