  1. Thanks for the reply EuroChamp, by play back software do you mean something like JRiver media center? I was considering using that as front end software.
  2. Hi all im new to computer based audio my preference is vinyl followed by cd but kids? i am trying to achieve the best results from pc based source with my limited knowledge i have set up the following. synology ds212j nas ethernet to router, surface 3 usb to cambridge audio dacmagic to system. my original cd rips were done using windows 7 standard ripping software as wav files, i now have dbpower amp for ripping. last night for the 1st time i did a side by side listen to tracks ripped in wav v cd, whilst the sound is acceptable for listening its still quite obvious its not as good as cd. my understanding is wav v flac should be identical and the input at the dac is showing 44.1khz so should be cd level? Im using the synology in built audiostation for playback, what is it im missing causing the nas based sound to be less desireable than that of cd? any ideas very welcome.
