Bit late to ask, I think, but it would be great if one could rename the input strings. Now it says USB, SP/DIF, analog and so on, for which I rather would see (in my case) Rasp, Olive, Dual. But I fear there wil never come another update for the "old" Brooklyn. Nevertheless, if not asked, no hope.
-
Could be. Can you still operate the Brooklyn with the remote?
-
If you haven't already done that: contact Mytek. A non functional unit which after upgrading displays "Invalid serial No. Please contact dealer” is unexpected.
-
It's rather silent at the firmware front for the original Brooklyn. Maybe it's at its wit's end with version 2.36, but if not, I hope that Mytek sees some improvements that they have in mind for the + version, that also applies to the, eh, - version. And I have a tiny suggestion too: when it starts up, tell me which source is active, USB, SPDIF, analogue or what. Now it's guessing.
-
But as afterthought: With the remote it is pretty impossible to do something nasty.
-
No. But who knows, in a new firmware, Mytek??? Would indeed be nice.
-
That is the last version for the Brooklyn, the same as I use. It says INT on USB, and IN on S/Pdif (and a lot more, but that is what I use).
-
Not really. With S/Pdif and WCK, I get no sound out of my aging Olive 4. With IN always. With 44.1 when I play ripped cd's, with hihger numbers nothing. I just switched to Tidal on my Raspberry Pi 3 B+ connected via USB, and without doing anything, the sync said INT. I wouldn't bother very much though. With IN and INT you let the Brooklyn bother, that's just fine.
-
And I have to check what options are displayed with USB. With S/Pdif it's just IN, WCK and a lot of numbers.
-
With S/PDif choose IN, there is no INT with that kind of input (at least with my Brooklyn)

Can someone split this topic in one for the Brooklyn DAC+ and one for the Brooklyn DAC (without plus). I find it confusing. For the Brooklyn Mytek has restored the last firmware 2.36 here: https://mytekdigital.com/hifi/support/
-
I have asked Mytek why firmware version 2.36 was replaced by 2.32 and got the answer that it must be a mistake.
-
If Mytek is wise, they embed the update facility in their products, and get rid of those external software solutions. It's no guarantee for their eternal existence though. My aged Olive 4 streamer has such a lovely OS-independent update function, nevertheless the company is gone. But this year it's doing its duty for 10 years in a row. So, I like to think that my Brooklyn will serve my needs till I'm gone. Than indeed it will be my last Mytek product (cf my first Sony )
-
Can't help you, sorry. No Windows here. But I have a habit to grab every update the Mytek provides, so I have now the whole collection of firmware upgrades for the Brooklyn on my disk. To my amazement I see now 2.32 as the latest firmware, whereas my Brooklyn is happily running 2.36. Weird.

Ok, thanks. I think I grasp their purpose a bit better. And I can understand why it costs money. I only recently acquired a Raspberry and Tidal, the other gear I have prooved to be not compatible. I can also look back at 10 years editing metadata in my streamer, mainly with classical music. I believe that Roon tries to achieve the same, and more. With Tidal and classical music it's not such a feast, f.i. there seems to be no knowledge of compositions, just tracks and albums. With over 4000 already edited cd's, I tend to think that Roon is, maybe not too little, but for me too late. But worth a try.
