  1. I just got the universal JH Angie's (v1, not the v2 full metal jacket version) I was looking for a high-end IEM for on-the-go listening (MrSpeakers Ether C's at home). Like the Ether C's, I prefer a fairly neutral sound. After doing research on the JH line, my understanding was that the Roxanne's was tuned to a fairly different sound, and for those into neutral sound signatures, the Angies and Rosies were much more in line (the Laylas are too, but those were out of my price range). I did a 3hr audition of the v1 Angie's and the new Rosie's. Listened to a number of high-res 24/192 flac files (instrumental jazz, vocal jazz, pop, hip/hop) - and most of the songs on the Chesky's Ultimate Demonstration Disc in 16/44.1 flac. I ended up pulling the trigger on the Angie's - because they were the v1, the price was basically the same as the Rosie's. I liked both, but the bass was a bit bloomier, and not as crisp / tight as the Angie's. Both had great mids and treble. If you didn't like the Roxannes, I wouldn't throw out JH entirely - give the Angies or Rosies a try, you might prefer their sound signature.
  2. Have really enjoyed reading this thread! I got my end-game headphones a few months ago (MrSpeakers Ether C), which I run through my Centrance HiFi-M8 portable DAC / Amp, and I've been on a tear buying new music and experiencing new genres thanks to threads like this! Thanks to this thread, I've really enjoyed discovering Tord Gustavsen Trio, Hadouk Trio's Live at FIP, Diana Krall's Girl in the Other Room and Live in Paris, and Alison Krauss + Union Station LIVE. Just last week, I had a "listening party" with a buddy while the wives were out - he's into speakers (Arcam DAC / AMP -> Totem Forest floorstanders, while I'm a headphone guy (for now). We ended up spending 4hrs listening to music, and it was especially interesting listening to the same recordings on his system and then my headphones right after. Let's just say while I love my MrSpeakers cans, once I move into a house where I can really play music loudly, I'm definitely going to get a speaker system! Some new music he introduced me to that sounded great and I've since bought and listened to: - Portishead (Live in Roseland NYC) - Nina Simone - Pastel Blues (especially her version of Sinnerman!)
  3. I upgraded both my laptop and desktop from Win 7 to Win 10 a few months ago. I'm pleased overall, no changes in sound quality, and agree the OS seems snappier. Upgrade was seamless. I play mostly high-res 24/192, 24/96 and redbook FLAC via Foobar2000, through my Centrance HiFi-M8 via USB. Only thing that's changed for me was I'm starting to get some errors on my laptop when playing music - I think it's the Centrance Win10 USB driver though, they're still working on it and it's still in beta.
