  1. Ok here goes. Came into a bit of cash and have 10K max to spend and want some advice. This is my my current setup: Music source is PC with Quboz player. Speakers are AVI ADMRS9. Have Arcam rDAC to Littledot mkIII and sennheiser HD600 headphones. Unfortunately something is going wrong with the headphone setup as the static is approaching intolerable at low volumes. Not a headphone issue as working fine with piano. Only two stores close to me, limited enough stock and understandably only recommend what they sell so was looking for some independant advice. Requirements are basically the following: Source will remain purely PC based and Quboz. Spend about 40% of time listening on headphones so good setup required. Floorstander wireless speakers. Want to move speakers away from PC so want to move to wireless. Was looking at Dynaudio Focus 30 and dynuadio connect but open to all suggestions Headphone amp/DAC and headphones. Again all suggestions welcome. Its a lot of money to spend so want to ensure I spend it well. I am not expert in all the jargon but I spend a lot of time listenting to music so want to get the best bang for buck that will last 10+ years. Appreciate any advice. Thanks Eos
  2. I have AVI ADMRS9 active speakers for my home office. Newer model available now. They are superb quality at any volume but are not cheap. Second hand will set you back about €1000. I work from home a bit so think they are worth it. They are a small UK based company which generate the most hilarious argument online between the passive vs active community due to their very outspoken founder. Anyway they get a big thumbs up from me.
  3. Actually would another option be simply to replace the soundcard in the computer and replace it with one with toslink out. I have no idea about this side of things but maybe one of you has considered this. The reason I am considering this as an option is that the DAC in the speakers, Wolfson 8741, is supposed to be good.
  4. Thanks to all of you for getting back to me. Its just toslink on the speakers so no options there. So if I went with the iFi Ilink it simply sits between the PC and the speakers and removes the need for the behringer, is that correct? Also does cable quality matter here at all and if so have you any recommendations? Thanks C
  5. Hi Looking for some advice and hoping someone here can help. Up until a few months ago I had a very good analog hifi setup which had to go for personal reasons. I recently bought AVI ADM9 active speakers and am listening to all my music now through the PC. So far so good, speakers are really brilliant so no problems there. Setup is as follows: Bog standard Asus PC with Windows 10 with no optical output connecting via USB to a Behringer 202 which runs optical line to AVI ADM9RS speakers which contain a wolfson DAC. Using JRiver latest version My querys are as follows and excuse my technical illiteracy: 1. As the PC has no optical out i cant connect direct to the speakers so have the behringer. This is a cheap solution which doesnt seem to support HD audio. Any suggestions for a good DAC with USB in and Optical out? 2. Is there a benefit of running DACs in series as I will always have two unless I upgrade the PC? Im sure these are stupid questions. Any suggestions appreciated. Have looked around at loads at sites for DACs and basic requirements are USB in and optical out which supports HD audio. Thanks C
