XP is the best and sounds much much better than Vista, 7, 8, although haven't heard 10 yet.
The others sound like a cheap MP3 player compared to the wonderful old XP,
which has a beautiful sound, with perfect mids, highs and fuller bottom end,
its not quite a wide as other OS's,
but not an issue, nor is it anything that can't be fixed with a better more modern av amp.
What they've done to the others is a mystery and why i visited this page to find an answer.. but no-one seems to really know around the net and have just taken the new for better.
the others are possibly better for music production but weirdly not playback.
Although it could possibly be because XP is 20bit /48k ? rather than 24bit /96k which seem just unnecessary for music playback, and more essential Blu ray etc.
not sure, but pick up an old copy of XP and hear the difference.
