  1. Hi Michal, Nice move. Been in contact with the EU staff the whole time. Feel free to contact me for a personal feedback.
  2. No worries, all good. Looked like it could be the one, nice features, flexible design, good looking. Unfortunately the luck was not with me. Will not be easy to find a competitor for such a fastidious I am.
  3. It's not my intention to make them all look bad. I just try to report my experience. They might be the worst, but Mytek needs to optimize their QA and customer satisfaction in such a high quality market. Thanks for trying to keep my head up, but that was too much struggle. Good luck for more positive feedback and hopefully a stable firmware.
  4. You've posted that the sound issues where fixed with 1.3.5. Mine has not been fixed with that update, so it's not unfair, it's a fact! I'm not the only one reporting issues and still a lot of the issues are still open and new ones coming up. You're the only one who's trying to level bad facts.
  5. It's not a firmware issue. A BGA defect is a soldering issue on the chip. That describes the analog issue inputs and the goofy and distorted sounding as well. The goofy sound might not be comparable with the issues you've had. But it's weak and unacceptable to send me an used replacement with a broken and scratched knob, that sounds correct!
  6. I've compared it with a DIY DAC, compered to the time I need to get it running. As a customer who's payed a bunch of money, I'd expect an enjoyable device from the first minute - I haven't had that feeling. I'm not willing to spend more time to do beta testing, sorry. BTW: The firmware will not fix the analog input issue. The second DAC doesn't have that issue, but it is used and got a scratched broken knop - not acceptable! It might be an outstanding DAC if everything works as it should - The second try to send me a working replacement failed too, that concerns me much more.
  7. That was all, a confirmation about BGA (Altera) defect, the second used broken DAC, and a sorry. I'm, done with it. That is weak customer support for a preorder that was payed 1,5 month up front. Spend more than two weeks to get that brick working with a goofy sound performance, and needed a second opinion not getting crazy. If I would like to have a DIY DAC I would try this. That's a bargain compared to the Brooklyn. Mytek should focus on their basic software issues and QA, before they are implementing more features.
  8. You're right it was 1.3.5. A typo, sorry. The response from Mytek: I am sorry for this situation. Please send both Brooklyn DACs to ...
  9. I've had an extensive audition with some professional musician friends a week ago. Fact is, the Mytek sounds flat and goofy compered to the much cheaper Denon DA-10. I don't wont go into detail, cause the difference between both DACs is huge. Yes, I've posted it's sounds better after the first firmware update, but that's changed after the next day. The sound felt back to the quality Totsipaki posted. Also the volume control issue came back. So we came a cross that the DAC must be faulty. I've found some more issues too (latest firmware 3.15 at that time). - Volume control issue is still not solved. - Line input is extreme low that you have to rise to -20db to hear some sound and sounded distorted too. - If you change the input from USB to another input and back to USB, during music plays via USB, the sound messed up like there are some buffer issues and a lot of distortions and click sounds. You have to switch between sources back and force several times to get it back to a normal sound. The whole time I was in contact with the Mytek support and asked for an exchange of the faulty DAC. I bought the DAC directly at the EU headquarter and payed up front as a preorder. After some struggle with the support, they confirmed that some units have a BGA defect with the Altera chip. Maybe all these issues and poor sound quality are a side effect of the BGA defect. Fact is my unit sounds goofy and doesn’t work as designed and promised (MQA was also not built in at that time). Today I received the new DAC. Sadly it’s a used one, scratched and loose knob. Sorry Mytek, this is unprofessional!!! I’m not going to do another audition with that sloppy designed and produced 2K brick. Finally I’m done and don’t want to waste more time - Literally, I’m going to send it back. Good luck with this banana product, guys.
  10. No, it doesn't work. You have to level it on the device.
  11. All right, I'm not that much in this business. If that works on the Audiolab MDAC they made good work on the OS X implementation, or using different USB interfaces that gives the option to do it. I'm not concerned to have this feature or not.
  12. I'm also interested in the technology of the Brooklyn. What makes the Brooklyn so different to other DACs? If I compere some higher class DACs and competitors they are putting much more effort in electronic details. A big question mark is also the analog part. There are so less electronic parts in this section. Do they path the analog signal completely to the digital section? Why have they picked a switching PSU? Any electronic geeks here?
  13. Nope, haven't had any external DAC that are controllable via USB HID volume control so far. (Expect the really cheap USB sticks) It also depends how OS X levels the volume. If it cuts the data stream it's not a good idea, you'll lose important data for the DAC. It might also not work for DACs with analog volume control. My issue is that the DAC itself doesn't react if I try to change the volume on the DAC. Just the db in the display change, but the sound level keeps the same.
  14. It performs much better after the update. I can only compare with a Denon DA-10, but it's much clearer, more in time, got a more punchy bass. Just the volume control, if you unplug the power cord overnight. All other issues are fixed, hopefully they'll not return. Some minor usability things, but they will fix them in the next release - Mytek promised. I'm a bit concerned about the firmware issues. Good thing is you can patch it, others have to send in. It's a nice made device and has got everything I need and been looking for. Network access would be great for future proof, but you can't have it all. No final conclusion so far. Will wait a bit more and hope every things get fixed.
  15. workaround is to change from XLR to HP back to XLR, than it works as designed.
