  1. Astrostar - As the owner of an AN 1.1 myself I love the article. Lots of food for thought in the article. The one question I have: My AN does not have a USB input. Did yours have a USB input or did you add one? If the former do you have any sense how complicated that would be?
  2. Dyson--Thanks for your email. I'm aware that stop appears in that way, but the stop and release button (the right-hand solid square block) on the desktop version (at least for me) do not work in the same way. The release button solves whatever hang-up my DAC has by releasing the stream of bits, so that when a track with a different bit rate is selected, there is no interference and the music will again re-start. It's getting the solid square release button on the remote that I am focused on.
  3. Hi Damien--Is there any way to release the playback on the iOS remote, like the square button on the desktop version? For whatever reason, switching bitrates on A+ (current version) causes the flow of music to my dac to stop, so I release the playback, click on the new song with the new bit rate, and it plays fine. I am not seeing anything like this right now on the remote (I've downloaded it and have been using it. If there's an alternative way, such as just holding down the stop button for a few seconds, that would work too. Thanks in advance.
  4. I have a Human Tabla sub/spdif which uses the Hiface drivers and is in many ways similar to the HiFace 2. I have no UBS or other similar input into my fav (audio note). I am using the Amber regen into the tabla with no problems. I think there is an improvement with the regen.no problems using it. Hope this helps.
  5. I also took the plunge. I bought the DSD version though my current DAC is only 24/96 for future proofing purposes. Down sampled and converted to PCM it sounds quite nice, good air, presence and clarity. To second firedog's comment, the piano (and perhaps the high hats) does sound a bit bright but overall quite nice. Richard
  6. Thanks Umetaro. From your name, are you in Japan by any chance? I'm going to be in Kyoto at the end of the year and would appreciate any recommendations for hi fi shops in the Kansai that you might have (especially tubes).
  7. Hi Umetaro-I got one of the earliest JS-2's and it has been running flawlessly since I got it. It is always on and I have not noticed any heat issues /overheating at all. I only run my Mac mini with it. Amex Crespi is a real gentleman and great to deal with as well. Like the poster above, the JS-2 has significantly improved my sound quality (you can search my name in these forums to find my longer post on some sound quality).
  8. Thanks! Have you noticed any difference in sound quality? The Mavericks driver is still working fine for me so weighing whether to upgrade. Richard
  9. On a slightly off-topic note, I'm going to be ripping CDs, and as I use a Mac Mini now, I need to get an external CD drive. Do people have views as to favored CD drives?
  10. What do you think of the SQ (realizing that it can only be as good as the underlying CD...)
  11. Thanks for the post -- I have the same experience with my USB/SPDIF bridge which uses the same M2Tech driver. 2 questions for Uzinusa: 1. Is there any sonic advantage to the upgrade to the Yosemite driver? Given past experience with M2Tech drivers, I'm likely to stay on the Maverick driver simply because it's working now. 2. Using Audirvana, when I switch songs with different bitrates, I have to release playback then hit play again. A slight bother. If you have (or had) a similar issue, has the Yosemite driver affected this? Thanks in advance.
  12. Hi Miguelito--Been doing a little detective work tonight, and the mystery seems to grow. 1. When I play my "missing" files in iTunes using Audirvana 2.0x in integrated iTunes mode, the "missing" files play fine. 2. When I open Audirvana 2.0x in standalone mode in "list" view, I see what appears to be many (perhaps all) of my "missing files." There is no metadata for any of them, and all of them show a duration of 0:00. If I use the metadata editing window facility in Audirvana 2.0x, I can edit the fields, but not save any information in the fields. 3. And when I shift back to Album view, none of those files show up. 4. When I try to open in Yate a specific album that is not showing up in Audirvana 2.0x album view, I get a chunk overflow message for each song. Any further ideas you may have would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Richard
  13. Hi Miguelito--Thanks for your posting response. Not sure of the format (I think either FLAC or AIFF), I will check on that when I get home tonight. I have roughly 1.4 gigs in HDTracks format in an HDTracks specific folder (all downloads from HdTracks go there). The folder is stored on a Drobo. The folder has grown over time in number of albums; about 1 1/2 years ago my old Drobo had a near death experience and I had to migrate all the files from my old Drobo to the new Drobo. That's one of the things that had me thinking about file corruption (although even then odd why they play in the iTunes combination). I load the HDTracks folder into Audirvana 2.0 by having it manually synch, as per the manual. However, when I say they don't appear, I mean that some albums (roughly 75%, particularly the more recently bought albums) completely load, other albums load partially but having missing files, and some albums will not load at all. When I load the whole folder in Yate, of the roughly 1480 files that exist according to Drobo in the HDTracks folder, only 1100 or so files load into Yate. I suspected that it might be a metadata issue that was preventing Audirvana 2.0x from recognizing them, but that doesn't appear to be the case. I wondered whether the folder size might be part of the issue, so last night I split the folder in two, but that doesn't seem to have helped... Is this helpful?
