  1. Anyone have experience with Unison from a Mac mini? Noticeable improvement?
  2. Whew! Looks like it Yggdrasil is functional with the new Mac. Not sure what I was doing wrong with with the older one, but probably user error. (Could have sworn it clicked cycling through the inputs but in any case USB input is working.) Now on to upgrades, Unison USB?
  3. I have the original USB board. It seems a bigger problem than that as I can’t play through toslink either, and don’t hear clicks when cycling through inputs. Guess I’ll need to send back for repair. Thanks for the offer of the Gen5 card.
  4. I have a Yggdrasil (2015 model so ancient with all the updates over the years), using USB from a Mac Mini. The other day I was playing some music, but it stopped after a minute or so (still playing within iTunes, but no music to the DAC). When I rebooted the Mac to see if that would clear things up I got a black screen of death and thought my Mac Mini bit the dust. I bought a new Mac Mini, coming today, as I couldn’t reboot or reset the old one using many different options. However, there appears to be a Yggdrasil issue. Here are some observations: Tried various rebooting and resetting procedures…always back to black screen. As I was unassembling my system to prep for my new Mac (unplugging my USB from the DAC), I tried to reboot again and surprised to find it started normally. No DAC is showing in Audio MIDI, Yggdrasil disappeared. No DAC is showing up in System Preferences in USB ports. I then replugged the DAC USB and rebooted and again got a black screen. Tried different USB ports, different cables, same response. I also noticed that I don't hear a click when cycling through Yggdrasil inputs, just the lights switch. I leave my DAC on all the time, but did turn it off then on again to see if that would reset anything. Anyone have a similar issue or thoughts on what could be wrong? Of course, I’ll try the new Mac this weekend (which I probably didn't need to buy after all if this is Yggdrasil issue) but curious if this sounds familiar in any way? Have an inquiry into Schiit. Thanks, Jeff
  5. It seems I may be one that doesn't hear it (nor factually understand the science). Perhaps my expectations (of my abilities or this DAC) were unreasonable. That being said, the good news is I've learned a lot in the process of upgrading, and how I should appreciate more what I have before seeking "more".
  6. I haven't notice a major change over the week warming up. Perhaps I just don't have the hearing others do, or my system is not resolving enough. Does sound very good, but the change to my previous DAC is very subtle. My 10 year old daughter can't hear a difference at all (granted she is only 10 and not as critical in listening as I am, but at least her hearing is better). I find the Yggdrasil having a tad less "glare" or perhaps a little smoother, but may be bias.
  7. 24/2 at this point. All other gear is working well: Magnepan 1.7s, Emotiva XSP-1 (new) and XPA-1 monoblocks.
  8. First time on this forum. Currently auditioning a Yggdrasil, although it only seems a subtle change from my current Emotiva DC-1. Been running it 2 days, will continue for the recommended week or so to warm up (do electronics really take that long?). Will this really sound markedly after a week?
