  1. Thanks, I do have multiple backups of my music files, can't be to paranoid. Doug
  2. I apologize if this has been answered before. I am running Audirvana on a 2009 Mac Mini with 8 gb of RAM. My music library, about 150 gb is on a 1 TB firewire drive. The mini connects to a Teac UD-501 DAC. Everything works fine with no problems but the hard drive in the mini is making very strange noises and i fear it may be failing. I just replaced the hadrd drive in my Macbook pro with a SSD and the difference is amazing so I am going to replace the Mini drive with an SSD also. My question is, should I just replace the 120 GB mini drive with the same size SSD and keep my music on the FW drive? Or, should I spring for a 500 gb or 1 TB SSD and put my music files on the SSD. I seem to recall reading that your music files shouldn't be on the same drive as the OS but I wonder if the speed of the SSD would compensate. As I said, I have had no problems with the FW drive so I am inclined to keep my music there but I would welcome any advice. Thanks Doug
  3. Greetings I previously raved about version 2.5 and my opinion has not changed one bit but I have run into a problem I haven't encountered on earlier versions. Sometimes, but not every time, when playing a track either on my local server or through Tidal, A+ will stop at the end of a track. Selecting the next track fixes the problem but it is annoying. Also, sometimes, but rarely, playback will stop and a buzzing tone will play, making me run to shut off my amp. I have never had this happen until 2.5 which, in spite of these issues, is the best version of Audirvana I have heard. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Regards Doug
  4. Damien As a fellow programmer, admittedly one not qualified to carry your bit bucket, I am absolutely amazed at how good the latest version is. I will be spending a lot more time with Tidal now that i have a solid platform with stunning sound quality. I have been enjoying A+ for over a year now and I am hearing details in my music that were previously hidden. Now with Tidal integration I am in seventh heaven. I know you are besieged with requests for fixes and updates but I urge you to sit back and take a well deserved rest after a job very well done. Merci et bon nuit. Doug
  5. I also did the uninstall and reinstall, then the activate/ no you need to reactivate, and new password. Then, A4T started and scanned, the remote app on my Ipad paired and A4T ran perfectly for about 4 hours. But the ipad pairing disconnected for some reason and A4t wouldn't accept the pairing code the Ipad generated. So i gave up on the remote app and tried to do a search for an artist on A4T which promptly crashed with the all to familiar 'Amarra for Tidal quit unexpectedly' . I think I need to take a break from Amarra until they come up with a more stable version. I was really impressed with the remote app and the SQ was excellent but the crashes are just too aggravating. 6. Same problem, crashes continually. Dbath
  7. Richard My apologies for my rather harsh comments. I was rather unfair to suggest $9.95 was too much for the remote app. I have purchased the newest version and was able to install it and activate it with the new license ID. I also managed to pair the remote app on my Ipad to the Mac application. I am, however experiencing some problems. First, the Mac application keeps crashing with the message "Amarra for Tidal quit unexpectedly". Usually while performing a scan but also when displaying my artists and albums. I haven't managed to keep Amarra running for more than a couple of minutes. On the remote app I can see my artists but no albums. Then, after a minute or so, the pictures of each artists are replaced by a microphone icon. I want this to work but this behaviour is driving me nuts. Any suggestions are welcome. i have been deleting the preferences, the "All" option each time it crashes. Regards and again sorry for the rant last night. Doug
  8. I have purchased and been using Amarra for Tidal for over a month now. I Just downloaded and tried to run 2.0.1228 and it crashed repeatedly. Then I remembered to delete the preferences file,(why doesn't the installer do this?) and Amarra started. After much looking clicked on the Remote icon to enter the remote key. ( I had downloaded the remote over a week ago only to discover that A4T wasn't ready to use it yet???) When I entered the remote key I was told I had to upgrade Amarra, for $9.95, in order to use the new version. Is this how Sonic Studio runs their business? I think I will wait for Audirvana, my main listening software, to incorporate Tidal streaming. Dbath
  9. Thanks I'll give that a try. Doug
  10. No, the trial lasts until December 21.
  11. Greetings I am new to this forum but have been lurking for a few weeks. So far my lurking has led me to a trial version of Amarra Tidal which I am enjoying very much. My problem is that sometimes when i start Amarra up it starts to display the albums in my library then crashes with the message "Amarra for Tidal quit unexpectedly". Once it starts to crash it keeps on doing it every time I try to start Amarra. The only solution I have found is to uninstall Amarra and reinstall it. This works but is kind of a pain. I have been testing Amarra for less than a week and I have had to do this three times. Has anyone seen this kind of behavior before and can offer some suggestions? Amarra for Tidal is running on a headless mac Mini with OSX 10.8.3, 8 gigs of Ram and connected to a Teac UD-501 via an Audioquest USB cable. I really want this to work since the sound is so good and the selection in Tidal is amazing but I don't think I can put up with the crashes. Thanks for any advice. really enjoy this website and the forums. Regards Doug
