  1. @David Craff qq: is qobuz not anymore offer paypal? Just wanted to downlaod and pay with paypal as usual but only cc are offered ... or have I done something wrong?
  2. also a nice one: Melanie Barney - Power of the Organ. It includes Wagner's 'Ride of the Valkyries' played by organ - very special
  3. DR on the new Diana Krall Album Looks at least much better than on her last on 'Wallflower' - 192/24 Version downloaded from HDtracks: foobar2000 1.3.8 / Dynamic Range Meter 1.1.1 log date: 2017-05-05 12:35:07 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Analyzed: Diana Krall / Turn Up The Quiet -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR Peak RMS Duration Track -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR10 -0.02 dB -12.53 dB 3:16 01-Like Someone In Love DR12 -0.02 dB -14.92 dB 4:29 02-Isn't It Romantic DR11 -0.02 dB -13.24 dB 4:21 03-L-O-V-E DR11 -0.02 dB -14.47 dB 4:39 04-Night And Day DR11 -0.02 dB -12.62 dB 3:24 05-I'm Confessin' (That I Love You) DR14 -0.02 dB -16.25 dB 5:15 06-Moonglow DR11 -0.02 dB -13.48 dB 4:39 07-Blue Skies DR13 -0.02 dB -15.94 dB 6:13 08-Sway DR10 -0.02 dB -13.38 dB 4:06 09-No Moon At All DR13 -0.02 dB -15.83 dB 4:05 10-Dream DR11 -0.02 dB -13.19 dB 3:51 11-I'll See You In My Dreams -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of tracks: 11 Official DR value: DR12 Samplerate: 192000 Hz Channels: 2 Bits per sample: 24 Bitrate: 5740 kbps Codec: FLAC ================================================================================
  4. Fan of her, too - but I will skip this ablum - learned my lesson with the latest Norah Jones Album - probably not so bad when streaming but not worth as high-res download for me.
  5. has been already given as a free sampler last year - just cover has been changed - but anyway: nice tunes in excellent sound quality
  6. Peak levels differ slightly between both versions (see link above for the CD data): foobar2000 1.3.8 / Dynamic Range Meter 1.1.1 log date: 2016-10-08 21:35:57 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Analyzed: Norah Jones / Day Breaks ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR Peak RMS Duration Track ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR10 -0.35 dB -12.58 dB 4:39 01-Burn DR9 -0.23 dB -11.71 dB 4:15 02-Tragedy DR7 0.00 dB -9.10 dB 3:41 03-Flipside DR12 -0.39 dB -15.01 dB 3:54 04-It's A Wonderful Time For Love DR11 -0.39 dB -14.79 dB 3:06 05-And Then There Was You DR9 0.00 dB -11.21 dB 5:36 06-Don’t Be Denied DR9 -0.19 dB -12.11 dB 3:58 07-Day Breaks DR11 -0.32 dB -14.03 dB 5:15 08-Peace DR10 -0.33 dB -12.16 dB 3:13 09-Once I Had A Laugh DR11 -0.39 dB -14.37 dB 3:08 10-Sleeping Wild DR10 -0.38 dB -12.67 dB 2:48 11-Carry On DR12 0.00 dB -14.98 dB 5:22 12-Fleurette Africaine (African Flower) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Number of tracks: 12 Official DR value: DR10 Samplerate: 96000 Hz Channels: 2 Bits per sample: 24 Bitrate: 4608 kbps Codec: PCM ==========================================
  7. they are almost identical (unfortunately) - both have DR10
  8. you may take into consideration: on the one hand some tunes are simply bad mastered and whoever offers them is trying to make more money without investigating in proper remastering - and on the other hand even when they are well mastered you will need good/the right equipment to enjoy any difference. For me, hires music sounds often more engaging; however, if for any reason you don't hear a difference - and some people simply don't - I would not invest any further money but maybe give it a try sometimes in the future again
  9. interesting - sounds to me you found your JATP Version. By the way, to me each JATP Version sounds very consistent in itself - so chances are that you will find also the other tracks on your favorable choice as similar nice/vivid as the one you tested. Whereas on CantateD each version/mastering has for me some tracks well over the others enjoyable so I ended up with a mixed playlist on my player; but I would not do a mix-up between my K2HD and 2xHD JATP Versions. Enjoy :-)
  10. yes, for sure. I have read a couple of good Reviews about the CantateD 2xHD - first bought the DSD and was disappointed, maybe because of high expectations. Later I tried and bought the DSD128 which is an improvment in the bass - but still I would wished a better reproduction of the organ. JATP in comparison is fine :-)
  11. Cantate Domino is a litte bit different from JATP. The K2HD has more and nicer bass than both the UHD and the 2xHD - but on some tracks too much; the UHD has less bass but better hights, but again on some tracks too much. The Canatate Domino 2xHD has been a little bit a disapointment for me as especially the bass goes not as deep (an organ should go deep, right?) as on the K2HD, rest is fine. I've done a playlist of all versions which fits nicest by song to me on my player. Different Story with JATP: you can go either with K2HD and probably the UHD (I haven't bought as I was really satisfied with the K2HD at that time) or the 2xHD (which is a sligthly better choice now) but you will not get disapointet either way. Just to my listening experience
  12. I have the K2HD (which should be the same master as the UHD I believe) which sounds very good - compared to the 2xHD it sounds somewhat 'thicker' with less accurate bass if that makes sense to you; the 2xHD sounds more acurate but is also very nice musically. The 30th anniversary sonds to 'thin' to me - wouldn't buy/recommend when you think about the UHD. Nowadays I listen only to the 2xHD and use the others just for comparisons
  13. The DSD version is more laid back and the 192/24 more 'in your face' - just how I see/hear it. Both are great, depends what Kind of Sound you prefer. Between 96/24 and 192/24 I would go with 192/24 as this seems the Version most People have who have done Reviews so far - so you would stay save at least
