  1. Greetings, My biggest question having been using this function of my Apple TV for some time now is how to keep it organized/find everything?? I "save" some albums to my Apple Music library and some are there and some are not. But even those that are are just mishmashed with everything else. Their Spatial Audio tab is nice for browsing this week's/month's releases, but some are new and not there and many many more vanish as new albums come out. There is no way to truly search/sort by Dolby Atmos. I would love to be able to go to my own "Atmos" library and see the albums in various genres, composers, etc...as it now frankly is pretty useless. You just have to "know" that "X" album is in Atmos and go find it, listen to it, and hope you can find it again. Hence why I would love to see a Roon like solution here for this as I sort by any resolution, filter and/or tag a million ways to organize what is quickly growing to a huge Atmos library. I have looked a Amazon Prime and Tidal and their 'solutions" are not any better/arguably worse...so for now its Apple Music via my Apple TV and the Spatial Audio tab to find/play Atmos...plus the resolution issue which seems like a simple fix for Apple--release a better appleTV and all of their next gen devices to play HiRes in HiRes...seems crazy they havent done this despite having one of the largest hires and likely largest Atmos libraries of any music service. thoughts? thanks, Doug
  2. Wow! What a Great article! As an Oppo 205 owner and someone with many many hundreds of SACDs, I found this very interesting! May have to investigate the denafrips dacs (always have salivated at the reviews of them) to try this out! Any similar solutions to extract the multichannel layer off of the SACDs to a higher quality multichannel DAC (without some semi-elaborate process of ripping them/iso files)? I enjoy both 2 channel and the multichannel sacds (esp for classical music). thanks! Doug
  3. Thanks Bob! That worked perfectly! The new filters sound great! Appreciate the fast and spot on assistance from this great community! doug
  4. Greetings, Long time off/on HQPlayer user who mostly uses ROON but sometimes uses both...anyways, I wasn't super satisfied w/my attempts at convolution using REW so had Thierry make me some filters via his fab HAF Service/Company. Dead simple to get going in ROON and sounds great. I was trying to get them going in HQPlayer and can't figure out what needs to be manually typed into the Matrix Pipeline. His screenshot is simple appearing but with a Mac it seems "harder". What I typed in doesn't work...it just seems to hang just before I hit play. I unable Matrix Pipeline (and therefore deactivating any potential convolution) and music plays. I have 4 file locations to type in. For example for the LL filter I am typing this: "Macintosh HD\Users\douglasmaurer\Desktop\HAF_measurement\HAF_HQP_192_LL.wav" then cutting/pasting for the LR, RR, RL filters...but clearly this file path must not be written the way HQPlayer wants it written...what am I am typing incorrectly? I tried it w/an underscore b/t Macintosh and HD and added "douglass-mac-mini\Macintosh..." took out both and only started with "Users" but it isn't working...surely user error on my part, but not instructions for Matrix Pipeline in the manual compared to the Convolution screen doesn't help my cause...wish you could browse to those files for Matrix Pipeline like you can with the Convolution dropdown...anyways, any help is appreciated! thanks, Doug
  5. Ah! Yep you are correct! My mistake and thank-you for that eloquent explanation! This makes sense! It is too bad that the micro line cant have both the “cookies and the cream”...an either or proposition it would seem for now! thanks Doug
  6. Greetings! I already submitted a trouble ticket (and promptly received a response—on Easter Sunday!). But this bug is significant enough so that it should be posted on the forum as some folks may want to hold off on the update until this gets sorted out. As discussed in the official thread for the MQA update you do indeed lose the DSD 512 capability for example a iDSD micro DAC. However I updated via Mac and connect to a mac via USB and use the Audirvana (and Roon) software. not only did I lose DSD 512 I also seem to have lost DSD 256. Now my dac only shows as dsd 128 max capable in both audirvana and Roon! This is a big bummer and a far cry from my dsd 512 via HQplayer I was doing. Not sure MQA is worth that compromise! Please at least get DSD 256 back for the iDSD micro when upgrading software...may borrow a friends windows laptop to try to reflash the firmware w/windows! thanks Doug

  8. Happy Thanksgiving! I received the new iso-regen yesterday. I am powering it c the LPS-1. I definitely can appreciate the improvement in sound quality over the prior USB regen as well as my wyred recovery. I don’t currently have my microrendo in the set up. I’m still not convinced I like the sound with it in there but may explore have both the iso-regen and Microrendu at some point but would need another linear power supply. My concern or question is with the USBPC adapter that came with the iso-regen. Whenever I try to connect it my computer a Mac Mini,I no longer can see my DAC which is a newish Oppo 205. I have tried to turn the switch on and off on both iso-regen and the USBPC but whenever I have the USBPC in the chain nothing happens—the oppo disappears as an sound output option for the mac. I have tries thenUSBPC at both ends of the DAC and no matter what the oppo is invisible. When I take it out of the chain and just use a USB cable, suddenly my computer can see the oppo 205 again. So I have been using the iso-regen with two USB cables. Could it be the USBPC that was shipped to me is defective or is it a known issue with the Oppo? I sent this to support but as a mini follow up I tried the “old” short connector that came either with my old regen or microRendu and as soon as I swapped out the USBPC for that alternative connect the oppo immediately showed back up so must be a bad USBPC or something about the OPPO 205 and the USBPC not getting along. Thanks Doug
  9. Wow thanks for the information about this. I just receiver my micro rendu this week and so far I really enjoy it. Adding this airplay functionality to my system upstairs away from my home theater now allows me to listen to the Berlin Philharmonic broadcasts on my main hi-fi and the sound is really amazing considering the source! What a great little device! I don't see any mismatch between the audio and video if I am watching the broadcast on my iPad while listening on the hi-fi. Although for my system upstairs I'm probably just going to be listening rather than trying to watch.
  10. Just wanted to say I just replaced my Regen with a Recovery and was immediately impressed c the results!!! Larger soundstage, deeper bass, more detail, more "live" quality to the sound. I am esp impressed how much better Tidal HiFi streams sound. My set up: mac mini (2012 16GB RAM, music files on Lacie Thunderbolt ext drive attached) running ROON Server controlled from iPad Pro, Oyaide D USB cable from Mac to the Recovery (using Regen power supply) direct to iFi Micro DSD to onkyo nx 9007 in bridge mode/pure audio setting via Audioquest cinnamon RCAs out to Vandersteen Model 2 via Kimber Cable c two 10" B&W Subs. I also have one Audioquest JB attached to open USB port on Mac Mini next to the Oyaide cable and one on the Oyaide cable as it exits the Mac. Totally surprised by how much better the sound is! Open to other suggestions to tweak further without simply buying big expensive things like a new DAC, computer, amp, speakers! I have dabbled c HQPlayer upconversion c ROON via a 2nd Zone but had many probs and also c using a third zone c Amarra iRC (still determined to see if i an optimize this as I purchased it, ran settings, but never happy c sound compared to the above "plain" ROON setup!) Back to listening! Doug!
  11. Thank you both for taking so much time to respond to my post. I secretly follow along in a lot of threads on both computer audiophile and roon so know how much u both know about the programs. My calibration mic should arrive on Fri so likely will compare the free trials of both before diving in. I do have a fair number of DSD but mostly on SACD and relatively fewer DSD downloads...confident Roon will remedy to native DSD eventually or via HQplayer integration down the line...have Puremusic, JRMC, Audirvana and Roon so would love to stick c Roon for the UI and my subscription...on my system only Audirvana comes close/ties...on my old Windows c ASIO its close c JRMC...anyways will see when the mic comes and what my ears tell me! Always fun to tinker and tweak but the outlay is substantial compared to little tweaks like my Jitterbugs and Regen! Thanks again for your help and happy listening! Doug
  12. Greetings, I have a lifetime subscription to Roon. I really enjoy the software. I've been debating about adding room correction software to my mac to see if i can squeeze a bit more out of my system. I noticed that Amarra is having a Black Friday sale and all of their programs are half off. I was debating about purchasing a Amarra symphony with iRC but wasn't sure if it was compatible with Roon. Currently I am running Roon server on a mac mini c files on an external thunderbolt drive to an iFI IDSD Micro DAC to an Onkyo AV receiver using the analog inputs in Pure Audio (bypass) to Vandersteen Model 2s. I control the setup from an ipad running the Roon ipad app. Could i use Amarra Symphony c iRC and Roon together or do i need to buy Dirac iRC seperately? Just right now the price of the combo is cheaper than either one alone!! Thanks! Doug
