  1. Hi folks, Just a quick check-in to share an interesting and unfortunate experience with my Mytek 192 and Skylake using Firewire interface. Long story short, I ordered a DIY audio PC, and since I want it to use as a HTPC as well, I opted for Intel Skylake generation. i7 6700T, passive cooling, Gigabyte H170N-WIFI mobo. It is designed as a dual boot, 1st op.system Server 2012 with Audiophile Optimizer in core mode, and 2nd is Windows 8.1 (or maybe 10 later on) for everything else. I already had an AudioQuest Diamond top-grade firewire cable, so I decided to stay with firewire. Opted for a Lindy 3-port-firewire-800-400-combo-pcie-card and here comes the annoying part: Server 2012 cannot detect Mytek 192 via firewire. Via USB it works, no problem. In Windows 8.1 no problem either. Then after some googling I found this thread where pepole say the problem is related to firewire 400 interface, but things can work with fw 800. My PCIe card has both sockets and the AQ cable has one side the fw 400 6 pin connector, this one goes to Mytek, and the other side is fw 800 with the 9 pins. Is it possible that Mytek 192 has firewire 400 on his part as the interface, and hence it is impossible to use it with firewire on Skylake platform and Server 2012? I will sell my AQ Diamond cable and the Firewire card, and go to USB.
  2. I am using AudioQuest Diamond, a pretty expensive firewire cable to my taste, but it was a bargain buying it with the DAC together from the seller, so I think I made a good deal.
  3. Okay then, I will stop trying. Meanwhile support also replied and suggested using USB 2.0 for playing DSD64 or 128 natively. What I'll do is use it with firewire since otherwise I'm happy with the results, and I can plaz DSD64 DoP. I might later test it with Paul Pang's USB card and try with PP USB cable, and only if I find a huge SQ improvement I will sell the fw cable and card, and switch to USB.
  4. Can you post your Jriver settings where DSD128 playback works on firewire connection over DoP, please?
  5. Actually, apart from that test DSD128 file, I don't have any material, so my curiosity was just up to the testing phase. I already have an AudioQuest Diamond fw cable, don't really want to spend a huge amount of money on a decent USB cable plus the Paul Pang USB Card for my future HTPC.
  6. I'm using firewire connection and Windows 10 with Fidelizer (tried without fidelizer just in case it might cause the problem, but no success). Mytek support suggested that I should upgrade the firmware of the DAC to 1.8.3, as this is the new firmware version which supports DSD128 over firewire connection. (but still don't understand why the official guide suggests ticking DSD over DoP when the DAC can play it natively).
  7. Hi all, I have recently bought the Mytek 192 DSD DAC secondhand and I like it very much. I need your assistance with setting it up to play DSD 128. I'm using it with a Thinkpad T430 laptop until my passive case for the HTPC to be built is arrived, and connect the DAC via firewire express card. I downloaded the Mytek fw driver version 4.2.0.40417 and updated to the latest firmware 1.8.3.3 http://mytekdigital.com/support_docs/Mytek_Stereo192DSD%20DAC_firmware.zip I followed the instructions provided in https://mytekdigital.com/download_library/Computer_Software_Setup_Guide_v2.0.pdf And this way I am able to play DSD64 with Jplay 19. However, DSD128 is not working. Tried it with Foobar2000 with foo_dsd_asio, but still no success. I read a few pages back to see that the guide encourages to use DSD over DoP, but this DAC is able to play DSD natively, with the latest firmware the DSD128 should not be a problem. I have made a few screenshots to let you see my settings, and hope you can help. Now I'm writing this post from my workplace, the DAC is not connected, when I'm at home and the DAC is on I can also see kernel streaming device. Also on the last one I displayed my few sample DSD, DXD files I'm trying to play, of course the DSD256 won't work, but from the others, only DSD64 is what I'm able to play. Thanks.
