  1. Hi Tim, good to hear! I'm looking forward to get my hands on this new version. In case you're looking for beta testers, let me know. Cheers Jonas
  2. Hi Tim, awesome! Thanks big time for the pointer to shairport-sync.conf! With moderate overclocking at 900 MHz I still had interruptions, though it recovered more quickly. I've had a look at the shairport config before, but somehow dismissed it as it didn't seem to be used by moode's shairport-sync at all (or is it?). I now set alsa = { audio_backend_buffer_desired_length = 44100 }; This gives a full second of buffered playback at 44.1 KHz sampling rate, which seems to be the default/usual rate used for Airplay. After that I copied the config to /usr/local/etc so it's directly picked up by shairport-sync without touching its command line in /var/www/inc/playerlib.php. Interruptions are gone for good, without overclocking even. I might try without buffer and full overclocking at some point again, but currently see no need for stressing the hardware more than needed. What might be also interesting to note is that the current version 3.0 of shairport-sync changes this parameter to be given in seconds, so no more thinking about sampling rate: https://github.com/mikebrady/shairport-sync/blob/master/scripts/shairport-sync.conf#L71. Best, Jonas
  3. Hi Tim, I temporarily switched back to my previous USB sound card without changing anything else and the issue is gone again. Btw, my Pi is itself connected via Ethernet. So my network setup now: Macbook -> WiFi -> Router -> Ethernet -> Pi I discovered some difference in buffer size on ALSA side. Maybe that could be a pointer... Details on Github: https://github.com/mikebrady/shairport-sync/issues/346#issuecomment-283580865 Overclocking: 24/7 use (= powered on) or only a few hours a day? I'm reluctant to turn the Pi on/off all the time, so I'd just leave it on. Cheers Jonas
  4. Hi Tim, alright, tried as you suggested. Got a bit a closer to the issue with your and Mike's help, but haven't nailed it down, yet. E.g., playback doesn't interrupt via Ethernet or without soxr stuffing on WiFi... The Pi isn't overclocked, yes, so at 700 MHz. Would you think the soxr-based stuffing could be dependent on the output device (USB sound card vs Hifiberry)? Btw, another way to get the commandline for shairport sync is `ps faux | grep shairport` -> copy from console. Best, Jonas
  5. Update: While looking for more options to diagnose this, I found this thread for shairport-sync on Github. From the error messages produced by shairport-sync, it looks quite related to me. https://github.com/mikebrady/shairport-sync/issues/346.
  6. Hi Tim, just upgraded by Pi1B with a HifiBerry DAC. Sound quality rocks; love the moode! Although playback with MPD works like a charm (also with FLAC files), I'm now seeing some issues with Airplay. Every few minutes, playback suddenly stops for 1 or 2 seconds before it continues to play smoothly (until it gets interrupted again). I'm not quite sure whether it's related to the hardware upgrade, but I can say that I definitely didn't have those issues before. The Pi is connected via Ethernet, the media source via Wifi: a Macbook and an iPhone as source. I'm having the same interruption issue with both source devices. I fiddled around a bit with shairplay-sync and found the verbose-mode. On stdout (-vv debug output) I see some clear errors when the playback gets interrupted (see excerpt below). Apart from broken pipes, at the end it also says stuff about the Alsa device being in the wrong state... Do you by chance have any idea what could be going wrong or how I could go about diagnosing the issue? Or should I rather pose this questions with the shairport-sync guys? Thanks! Jonas
  7. Hi all, I'm looking for some advice around DACs and whether it's worth the investment in my case. I'm thinking of equipping my RPi1B with a DAC.. but I wonder how much I can gain, given that the quality produced by the sound system is only as good as its weakest link. I do have some better BOSE Speakers, but I'm not quite sure how good my amp is. It's some older Sony MHC-701 'all-in-one' thing that I use only on AUX these days. Right now, I'm driving this with a pretty cheap Speedlink Vigo USB sound card (https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0042RUGLK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). It's noticably better than the onboard sound output of the RPi, but that's easy. And which DAC would you guys recommend to equip a RPi 1B with? From searching around the net, I'm beginning to get the impression that that the 1B is quite 'old' already and many of the DACs currently available out there are (no longer) compatible. Correct? The only one compatible I've found so far is the HiFiBerry DAC (https://www.hifiberry.com/shop/boards/hifiberry-dac-rca/). Did I miss any other compatible DAC? I still like the 'old' guy and wouldn't like to retire it already... but are there any trade-offs to be made when running a DAC on the 1B rather than a newer version like the 3B? I would be a bit surprised if there are (given that everything is digital even in the 1B), but maybe I'm missing something. Thanks much & Cheers! Jonas

  9. Hi Tim, thanks for the quick reply! Sounds like I shouldn't bother fixing the card/booting off that card. For the record: the card is a Transcend Class 10. Will checkout the Sandisk one. I also have an Extreme III from Sandisk in my camera, which works like a charm. Thanks much! Jonas
  10. Hi Tim, i have an issue with booting moode off an 8GB SD card. The card reads just fine when plugged into my Macbook's card reader and writing the image works without issues. I use Etcher to write the image, which even verifies the card after writing the image. However, moode won't boot reliably off this card. After plugging in the card last time, it first didn't work, then i fumbled a bit with the card and noticed it wasn't positioned perfectly in the SD slot. After that, moode booted fine on power-on, but next reboot it failed again. And I didn't touch the card in between. I therefore temporarily switched to another spare 2GB card, which works perfectly fine. However, the newest version of moode won't fit anymore onto this smaller card. So I'm back struggling with the 8 GB card. Before I invest money in getting another card, I wonder if there's any way I can diagnose the issue without an external monitor? I simply don't have any external monitor available. Will moode write any kind of log file/... to the card during boot? If it helps: The pi (Rev 1B) is connected via Ethernet. Thanks, Jonas
  11. Hi Tim, okay... makes more sense now. What you could also do to solve this problem, which apparently only exists on small screen devices, is to use some responsive css-based switch for screen resolutions and enable the hiding only on small-sized screens. I believe bootstrap css, for example, does have some readily available classes for responsive web designs. I didn't check, maybe something like this is already available in libs used by Moode. Oh and, yes, it's a rather minor thing, especially considering the main purpose of Moode. Best, Jonez
  12. Hey Tim, I just switched 'over' from Volumio and I'm already enjoying all the cool features in Moode. One question about the 'save playlist' feature on the playback tab: In my browsers (Firefox, Chrome), the feature only shows up when I press the search button on top left. To me this seems a bit odd... I wouldn't expect this because to me the two things are not really connected from a feature point of view. Is this intended or a bug? NB: I tried clearing my cache. That solved some layout glitches probably caused by my previous Volumio installation on the same host, the save playlist thing didn't change. Let me know if you need any other details/debugging/... Thanks & Best Jonez
