  1. I'm with you on the rap thing. I once bought a Snoop dog or Lion or cheetah or what ever he is now album. It was back when Mtv played music videos. The cd was nothing like the video, it was one constant f-bomb. Now don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with a WELL placed curse word but constantly, no.
  2. You pretty much hit the nail on the head crenca. Most of my collection is from the 70's and 80's, some of which sounds good and some not so good. Back then as far as I knew there was only rock n roll. Now at times I find myself buying music for the sound quality and not for the enjoyment of the artist, if that makes sense.
  3. Thanks for the replies. You are correct SJK, I have JRiver set to WASAPI. I am finding that the more I increase the quality of the hardware in my system the worse some albums sound. It's great though when you get one of those few albums that sound even better. I guess it's not "making it sound better" it's just reproducing it to it's full potential. When I'm using my headphone rig I go JRiver/Luxman S/PDIF converter/DAC/Headphone amp/Headphones. I don't use the preamp unless I'm listening through the speakers.
  4. Yes, it is not all albums it seems. The most recent is The Essentials by Springsteen. To me it just doesn't sound good. I thought with Springsteen being a control freak that it would be a good sounding album.
  5. How do I get the very best sound from the HD Tracks downloads using JRiver. I think I have a nice audio setup but at times it doesn't sound like it should for the cost. I'm really not sure if I have the computer side tweaked to it's fullest or if the desktop I'm using is the weak link. I have most of my stuff listed in my profile to maybe help you know what performance level I'm at. Thanks Bill
