  1. The Airport Express / Airstream doesn't allow you to play different music in different "zones" does it, Mayhem? Or it does? Thanks very kindly, guys. Streaming is all new to me. Thanks again.
  2. Much appreciation, Paul! Precisely the type of help I so sought. Thank you. I'm shocked Sonos won't do 24/96. Thanks for that critical bit of info as I should have ensured it played 24/95 before I ordered. Much of my music is in fact high res, thus, Sonos won't be for me. An "audiophile" product that doesn't permit 24/96? Oh well. So Squeezebox Touch and Audioengine D2 will do 24/96 -- if I understand correctly, yet seem very different products. I'll look into those two. Any other wireles options I'm overlooking? Thanks kindly for your time, Paul, et all.
  3. I am deeply confused, which is not your fault, as to the cleanest/best way to stream music around my house. I have done due dilligence, researched and wore the search-function out but still in search of a simple answer if I may appeal to your sense of pity. I am in blissful love with some new airmotiv 4 speakers recently arrived. Have a pair of airmotiv 4s in the kitchen, a pair of 4's in game-room and just-slightly larger airmotiva 5's in living room. I store all my rips in FLAC only. My server is a QNAP TS-x69 NAS. Time to connect all three pairs of speakers to my NAS wirelessly so I ordered the latest Sonos Connect (z90 - no amp) which came with a free Sonos Bridge as a very welcome promotion. Now, I understand most of the obvious differences between Airport Express and Sonos. Sonos uses it's own communication separate of the usual wifi. Sonos lets me play in "zones" while the Airport Express doesn't etc. I know these things. My question is which ones streams music data more accurately (bitperfectly) -- across the board ? Do you guys use Airport Express, Sonos or NEITHER when going wireless? Thanks very kindly.
  4. Thank you for the write up! I still don't understand the fundamental differences in streaming wireless with Airport Express and streaming wireless with Sonos or if I should be streaming without either of them. Do most of you guys use Airport to stream around the house?
  5. I recall my father, when growing up, manically trading out speaker wire and other components until he concluded with his own ears that it simply wasn't value for money, even on the most elaborate/costly system he ever assembled. I've had the same experience in auditioning various cables and in the end, as mentioned above, I feel copper is copper for all but a hypothetical .000000001 difference that, if exists at all, life is too short to worry about so I had a few outbursts reading the article. Great read that confirmed a lot of wonders over the years and many too true and comical observations throughout so I really enjoyed the read. I wasn't calling the FyBaby bullsh*t so much as it's in no way worth $2 of the $250 they were asking for the device back in the 80s, per my own wallet; so it tickles me that, not only were they charging $250, but that the gadget existed at all, and to top it they call is "FryBaby". Love it. I like you're idea of "CryBaby" as well.
  6. And some real laughs throughout. If you scroll about 2/3rds down this was my favorite contraption. The "FryBaby". Oh man, too funny.
  7. Awesome blog, Weib! You've inspired me to try and DIY my own power cord. Thank you for the pics and experience! To the OP, I simply used copper core found at Home Depot. As mentioned, the A5s are great (I'm buying a second pair for my office) but they won't reveal much, if anything, as far as speaker wire is concerned. The copper I found at home depot works fantastic.
  8. Just a note to say I'm greatly looking forward to CA04. Any idea of when? Thank you for this guide.
