  1. You could probably undervolt or choose a lower clock on the GPU to make it run cooler. In my system the CPU runs a lot hotter than the GPU running stock settings. It is also possible that CUDA work loads is lighter on the GPU than Games so TDP rating is meaningless because you will not max it.

    This also works for me on windows 10 X5950, RTC 3090. I just use the standard windows version of 4.15.4 build. multicore=gray and cuda=true. (dropout if cuda=false) Nice to see that X5800+RTX 3060Ti is sufficient.

    I have x5950, 32Gb RAM and RTX 3090 TI 24GB, RPI4 NAA and May DAC. It is strange that the SINC-L settings works for DSD256 consuming 6.4GB on GPU but not with DSD512.     Just found out that my gaming rig can do DSD512x48, ASDM7ECv2 and filters like poly-sinc-xtr-mp, poly-sinc-ext3, poly-sinc-gauss-xl 💪 It is AMD Ryzen 5950x, 32GB RAM and RTX 3090, windows 10 and HQPlayer Desktop. When I tested it last time it was not able to do all DSD256 ASDM7ECv2 filters. So guess that my HQplayer Embedded on Intel I9900KS+GTX 1080TI will retire from HQPlayer duties. The only filter of the ones I tried that does not do work is DSD512 Sinc-L same settings on DSD256 works but shifting to DSD512 it crashes it does not even look like it gets to transfer the filer to GPU memory. Anyone got DSD512 and Sinc-L working?
  5. I think these are valid point before considering upgrading. I have considered the following Does the new card have better SQ when "only" doing DSD256/DSD512? Does 1.536MHz PCM / 1024DSD sound/measure better than DSD256/DSD512. If the answer is no to both then there is no point of going through the hassle of upgrading even if it is free. 1.536MHz PCM a pointless obsession of higher is better, maybe a bit like games running at over 144fps?
  6. A RTX 3060 with 12 GB might be enough if you are only doing DSD256 even my old 1080 Ti can do all filters DSD256 so I have seen no need to put my 3090 in my HQPlayer server running embedded. There are rumors of a 3070 TI with 16GB that would be perfect.
  7. Why do you need 3090, it is your CPU that prevents you from using the dsd512 7ECV2 modulator.
  8. Contrary to common logic the drive would most likely last longer if it was spinning 24/7.
  9. I am still having problems with getting correct Nvidia drivers installed on Ubuntu server. I then I installed nvidia-smi to see what version is installed and it reports 470 so it looks like the drivers is installed but not working. Then I installed: sudo apt install nvidia-driver-470 Then CUDA works in HQplayer, but now I got a desktop installed as well which is really annoying, because now my server goes to sleep after 20 minutes. It is only if I login to the desktop and disable sleep it will not go to sleep as long as I log in each time I start the server. So not really headless anymore. Are there another version than nvidia-dkms-470 that will work with hqplayer embedded?
  10. One thing that puzzles me is why so many put the May DAC directly on top of the PSU. The general recommendation has always been to put hifi separates on different shelves especially power supplies. Also there was many pages back concerns about heat. Again separate shelves is a good idea.
  11. After changing port to 8088 the web interface is working🙂 But CUDA does not work.     I have not yet reflashing my MAY and getting a NAA with an Intel USB. Is it really worth the trouble to play PCM at 1.536 MHz on the May or is it the novelty of getting highest number possible instead of "just" doing DSD256 ADSM7EC?
