  1. As stefano says if you are using something like MinimServer you can configure it to browse by any metadata field, allowing you to navigate by that item (e.g Orchestra, Label, conductor, instrument... ). If using a regular music player such as Winamp then it is more difficult to make use of this metadata, but sort fields are very useful for sensibly ordering your artists etc and supported by most music players. Also if your music tagger stores identification fields such as MUSICBRAINZ_ALBUMID that means it knows where the metadata has originally come from, and allows it to have options to update metadata from a source rather than have to rematch it. We do this in SongKong and Jaikoz, it also allows us to do intelligent duplicate file finding based on reliable identifiers rather than basic metadata.

  3. Minimserver is a great uPnP server, but not the most intuitive to configure. I have just been working on a 30 part MinimServer tutorial with examples that hopefully you will find useful.
  4. Okay that is a shame, I have added support for adding Back Cover Art to latest version of SongKong Music Tagger but not so easy to find applications that can make use of this.
  5. But I think the upnp spec does allow additional items to be passed back in the didl-lite, so im not sure that is a real restriction. And i was wondering if any uPnP servers had added this capability
  6. Looking for a uPnP Control Point that can show Back cover Art as well as Front Cover Art, does such a thing exist, and if so what uPnP server can provide multiple images to the control point for an album?
  7. I havent updated here for a while But have been releasing new versions of SongKong every couple of months and have just released SongKong 8.1 Scar (named after the mini album by Lush). 8. Ended up getting the Audio Techica LP3, actually looks much nicer in real life than the photos, sounds good and the 33/45 rpm and start/stop buttons have worked flawlessly
  9. I need to buy a new turntable, nothing to expensive but I would like a decent turntable. I have an amp with phono preamp so I dont need the turntable to have a built in preamp, I dont need usb or bluetooth. However I play alot of 12" E.Ps as well as albums so I do need a simple 33/45 rpm switch, also I dont mind manually putting the tone arm down but I do need autoreturn when the record finishes, this is because my wife also play records whilst doing things in other rooms and often she just totally forgets about the record when it has finisihed. I really like the look of the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Evo and was very tempted but unfortunately the lack of auto-return has made me think again, I read about q up accessory but it sounds like for that to work you have to remember to reset each time you use it, I can't see that happening in our house. The Rega turnatables have great reviews but they dont even have an 33/45 switch. So Im now looking at the Audio Techica LP3, this does have autoreturn and even auto tonearm down. But its clear that the sound is not going to be as good as for the others, I'm paying for a preamp I dont need and it doesn't look anyway near as nice as the other two. Does anyone have any other ideas ?
  10. SongKong 6.9 Mercury Music tagger now released, Full details at https://community.jthink.net/t/songkong-6-9-mercury-released-24th-april-2020/8975
  11. SongKong 6.5 Doolittle now released, contains more than thirty fixes and improvements
  12. SongKong 6.4 Treasure is now available This release contains more than twenty bug fixes, but we have also added a number of nice improvements.
  13. Songkong 6.3 Psychocandy is now available. Reports now has Browse by Artist/Album In this new release we have introduced a new section called Browse by Artist/Album. This group the songs by the album artist and album metadata and lets you browse the songs in this grouping. This shows all songs processed by Fix Songs, not only the songs that SongKong actually modified. We show artist and album artwork if SongKong has it, and also add badges indicating how many songs exist for this metadata and how many change. This new section of the report mirrors the kind of view you would expect to see in many music players and control points and should make it easier to manage your music. Reports Song Changes section revamped as Browse By Folder The Song Changes section has now been renamed, and instead of showing a single tree it now uses tiles to let you browse by folder in a similar way to Browse by Artist/Album. It now shows all songs processed, not only the modified songs. If a folder has a folder.jpg in the folder then this is displayed as the folder image. Providing Browse by Artist/Album and Browse By Folder sections make it much easier to identify any discrepancies between file structure and metadata. Also tiles rather than tree works better for mobile and small screen devices.
  14. This may be of interest to you @julsay SongKong Music tagger now supports adding artist images (as well as album images), and this includes images for composers and conductors and performers not just the main artist
