  1. Over the years I’ve tryed Windows server 12, 16, 22 (always with GUI), Windows 10 and 10LTSC, all optimized, of which the latter I still have on a separate partition and occasionaly use for YouTube performances and to compare it with my main OS, which is Euphony with Stylus. Even freshly installed, none of the Windows OS comes even close to Euphony (in my system to my ears of course). But what always bothered me to most of Windows was that the sound always seemed to degrade over time, no matter what I did. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love Windows to work for me, because of the fine interfase of the Qobuz app.
  2. Congratulations, it’s fun buying something exciting once in a while. I’m looking forward to your findings.
  3. My advise is not to use these cables, they’re oké at best and I don’t think a dc barrel to 8 pin molex excists. pm me if you need help.
  4. Ghent audio can make you every power pc related cable you can wish for. Contact him and explain very detailed what connections and cables you want. What I don’t understand is the 2.1 or 2.5 plug. What does that have to do with hdplex?
  5. Hello Imiche, you’ve mentioned the new 500w dc-atx convertor from HD Plex. Is it worth investing in from a sound quality point of view, if one ones the former 400w version and a good regulated power supply?
  6. What an interesting journey guys, it’s a joy following this thread. The approach of elimininating the pre/power amp, making the chain from source to speaker as short as possible must have advantages in all kind of regionaal of the presentaties. But the concequence is one must use very sensitive speakers and that does limit the speaker options a lot. It keeps me thinking. Did any of you thought of using a less sensitive speaker in combination with 1 or 2 subs and splitting the signal, so the lower sensitive speakers won’t even be bothered by frequencies below x hz?
  7. Euphony is not flawless, but I still love it. Great sound and although I would love to see a more advanced integration with Qobuz, it fits my basic needs for a comfortable listenig session. If Qobuz comes with a good remote app to control the desktop version, I will probably install a second partition with something like Windows 10ltsc alongside Euphony and use it when I’m the mood for discovering new music. At that time I might rethink my Euphony subscription if the sound quality from an optimized Windows OS is not that far apart. But untill then I’m good.
  8. At the drop down menu of the original Dutch hypex website https://www.hypex.nl/ there’s a section called “products” with a subsection called “diy products”. This leads you to another website: https://www.diyclassd.com/. At the drop down menu of this site look for “products” and then “diy amplifier kits”. Here different Nilai kits are offered like this one: https://www.diyclassd.com/product/nilai500diy-250w-stereo-kit/185
  9. I agree with @austinpop The specified voltage (V) rating of a fuse is where it is garantied to function properly. When a higher voltage goes through the same fuse it might blow without causing an actual danger for the divice. Fuses are designed to respond to current (A) and blow when current is to high in order to protect the device. So in your case you should use a 230v 1.6A slow blow fuse.

  11. Thank you my friend, I love the dog vibe you’ve got going on, hope they’re not scared by the fire works.
  12. That’s a bargain! One should be carefull though with buying online, as the metal dome is easily damaged. For what it’s worth, the sound signature is far from metallic, it’s quite warm. Other great speakers to consider are the Dynaudio Audience line, like the 42, 52, or even 122. They’re a good investment as well as the second hand price is pretty stable/ slightly increasing. Vintage Philips amplifiers from the 22ah line pair grate with them. I still own the 22ah305 which is an absolute gem and really nice to look at.
  13. The B&W 685’s are exceptionally good speakers for the money. You should be able to buy them second hand for around 350 pound. Pair it with an old Rotel 9xx series for a couple of hundred bucks and that leaves you enough budget for a dac/streamer.
  14. The 5v "sata" output of the HDPLEX Hi-Fi 400W used to power my jcat usb card. DC cables in and out are Ghent's Neotech 7N JSSG360 and the HDPLEX was fed by a Paul Hynes SR7t. It sounded very, very good. Then I changed the Jcat's power to an Uptone lps-1 with it's standard (rather cheap) dc cable. There was not that much of a difference actually. A fair comparison would be to use a Ghent Neotech 7N JSSG360 dc cable from the Uptone lps to the jcat, which will be on it's way soon. None the less, from my point of view one can sleep peacyfully with the the sata output of the HDPLEX 400W if it's powered by a quality power supply and proper dc cables are used. I do must add that the isolation in my AMR DP777 DAC is very good.
