  1. Hi everyone! So yes. I did get Audioengine A5+ from a guy on the Craigslist for 280 CAD. It had a problem with the volume knob doing opposite of what it is supposed to do - which the seller did specify on the post - I gave a chance and contacted Audioengine. Then they told me to contact Atlantia - audioengine's Canadian distributor which also does repair for Audioengine. After few emails back and forth, they told me to fill out a RMA form and got approved. They told me that they will attempt a fix, and if they can't they will ship a new one. So yesterday, they tested a problem and decided that it is unfixable, and they just shipped me a new one today. I guess I am lucky :'D Thanks everyone who helped me with this and I will post a picture of my setup with new A5+ when it gets here! Thanks again for all the help
  2. Sorry for everyone who replied and thanks. Had so much load from my school and just didn't find time.. I discovered that there is a guy selling Audioengine A5+ for 280 CAD. It has been used for two years and from the picture, the condition is almost new. He is not a smoker nor have a pet but just wondering if this is a good idea. A5+ are currently retailing in CA for 499-550 depending on the seller and colour. Thanks in advance again!
  3. Thanks! What would you recommend me if I already have DAC? Adding a another DAC seem like wasting. If I were to spend about the same money, one without DAC might have better components into them since we are not using part of the price in DAC but into ither parts..?
  4. Thanks for the input and your insight in active speaker and passive speakers. Thanks!
  5. Thanks a lot for your detailed inputs. I really appreciate it. I will look into Adam Audio again and try to find other sources as I just looked into one website. Just one more questions, what is a good budget amp for passive speakers? ( Not that I am going to get passive, but just want to gather informations before I decide.. And I did some research before but the opinions are just way too wide..)
  6. Haha I thought so. I was doing more research and some others on the different forum are saying passives are better in lower price... I am so lost.. haha I wish Amazon.ca had satisfaction program so that I can return them if I don't like it.
  7. The amp part is my problem as I have no idea which is good... ( New in speakers... Only was using head-fi stuff.. lol ) After some search and reading of reviews, Audioengine seems very good option. And if this recommendation is from expert like you, I am more than welcome to take it Just one question, do they have "Okay" bass in terms of quantity? Or I shouldn't really expect subwoofer like bass? ( After writing this, it sounds like no brainer question :'D ) Thanks again for the help!
  8. Thanks for the input and great suggestion! I looked into Adam F5 and 7X but I think the price is way beyond what I can pay.. (Tax counts as well... :'( ) I was thinking of passive speaker set up as it is more flexible when it comes to component by component upgrade - I usually do this as I can't really spend big in one time - and just in general separating power unit from the speaker itself might reduce noise and other issues.. (My guess..?) What do you think about Polk Audio's RTI A1?
  9. Thanks for the input! I WILL look into that however what do you think about Polk Audio's RTI a1? Apparently it is bang for the buck..
  10. Hello. I am looking for a recommendations for my computer audio. I have Logitech Z906 which I bought about 3 years ago. I am thinking to sell these and get a "proper" music listening set up as my purpose of purchasing Z906 was to use while I game and watch movie which I dont do a lot these days. As for as the equipments I have, I have DAC - ifi Nano iDSD (planning to upgrade to ifi iDAC2) - and thats about it. I have a headphone amp and other stuff - mostly portable - but as it is irrelevent I wont mention it. I need to get a speaker - bookshelf so that I can locate them on the desk - and an amp to run them. I was originally plannning to get a subwoofer but my budget at the moment is not so huge. I live in Canada so the selections are also quite limited.. I was looking at PSB Alpha B1 but I thought I would throw some questions before I make purchase. I also need some recommendaion in the amps. I am trying to run RCA from my DAC - connected to MBP - to amp and then amp to speaker. I also have a desktop which I use for heavier task and I can also run RCA or etc. Overall budget is about 500-600 CAD. Please understand low budget as I am still a student.. Thanks a lot for any input as they will help!
