  1. These were recorded (not ripped) to DSD256 with a Tascam DA-3000 from reel to reel tape and vinyl. So, no embedded info.
  2. I setup my Aries Mini last night with Lightning DS on an iPad Air2. It works great but there are some albums that do not show the cover art. I tried adding the cover art as "folder.jpg" and running rescan. It took a few minutes to rescan but it did show up.
  3. What is the interface like? Any screen grabs anywhere?
  4. My main system is tubes (845 SET) and high efficiency horns (Altec/JBL). My pre is passive using auto-formers because I don't need any gain.
  5. Let's focus on the DAC first. I am thinking in the $1000 range but that may change, as I learn more about what I really need and what may be a want. I'm ok with taking small steps. No need to try and jump to the front of the pack.
  6. Good to know, as I'm in the market for additional storage. I will focus on a NAS with RAID1 to keep my music backed up.
  7. What do you think about the Musical Fidelity MX-DAC? Music Direct has it on sale for $799.
  8. The process continues with my vinyl. I have about 40 albums now in DSD format.
  9. So to start off, I have upgraded my laptop to a Toshiba that is faster and has USB3.0 for my external music drive. My friend brought over a Tascam DA-3000 recorder and we started ripping my reel to reel master tapes to DSD128 files. This now has me looking for a new DAC, as mine won't do DSD files.
  10. Hello all, I am a long time audio enthusiast. While I have spent a very long time in vinyl and tape, I only recently started down the digital road. I have been running JRiver 20 (just installed 21) with a Sony laptop and Windows 10. This feeds a Music Fidelity M1DAC. This has served me well but I have been spoiled since a friend came over with his EMM Labs Meitner DAC and some DSD files. Seems your always happy until you hear the next level.
