  1. agree with this... it was actually a good and enlightening conversation... 3 years later - I spoke with Benjamin (I think) and got a positive feeling about him and his products. Plus - the fact that he is still in the business - kinda puts a sock in many mouths around here. But that is not the reason I registered today and posted my first post to resurrect an old tread. I am no electronics or software guru - I just love good sound. Some of the statements made by local experts while sounding scientifically correct - are contradicted by real life experiences. For example - USB cable is a USB cable. It transfers 1s and 0s. Simple. Any USB cable should sound the same, including on higher end systems. Well, this is wrong. Different USB cables sound differently. Can anyone try to explain it to me how is this possible? Barrows? With regards to the value of the power supply in the system - $800 or so in order to upgrade Mac Mini power supply sounds like a bargain where higher end manufacturers offer external power supply for many components, and these power supplies are multiples of $800, in most cases. As it was pointed correctly on this thread - even simple pieces of wire - power cords - significantly improve the sound of most components, some of them (power cables) costing more than an average size and age kidney. If a simple piece of wire can affect the sound - the affect that a power supply can have on the performance of higher resolution systems - is stunning. Again - don't care about the science behind all these phenomenons - I only care about what I hear with my own ears. And if the hornets tell me to get as much wax out of my ears and try again - I will consider myself bitten. But seriously - these discussions are good - I really do not understand why we are suppressing them - is it not why these boards exist out in Al Gore's internet. He approved it. Anyway - I am relatively new to computer audio, have a nice system and am now at the point where I have to complete the upgrade of my Mac Mini, as I am liking what I am hearing from this source, compared to Red Book. Hello everyone.
