    Dead KALI

Hi guys, used a Kali on a Pi4 for appr. 14 days and it died on me. I use a DIYINHK es9038Pro Dac. It seems that one of the small flip flops (not sure if its a flip flop, it says p79 on the chip) is shorting all pins to the ground. Anyone knows if this is a SN74LVC1G79 chip or what is it? I filed a replacement case with my vendor and ordered a new one but this think takes time so if I can fix it, it will be great. p.s. This particular DAC sounds better without the Kali. Anyone had similar experience? I have other dacs, that need the Kali to work, as they do not have a master clock so its good to have one or two lying around
  2. Hello fellows, anybody tried the new netgear switch (Nighthawk S8000) and router Nighthawk S8000? There is a lot on the net in regards to low latency and gaming performance so I was wondering if they do give a benefit. Any different in sound / picture quality when streaming? Please share your experience. kind regards Panos
  3. Netmon? Maybe there are differents in the implementations on the different regions yet the traces I did show UDP when the radio is playing.
  4. Hello, what clocks do you have in mind? I have tried some yet these are one of the best I have come arround.http://www.newclassd.com/index.php?page=207&hv=1 I am not affiliated with the company, just like the products.
  5. they do work. yet with the price asked, modify a switch with good PSU and a high precision clock. You will get far better results IMO.
  6. Looks a bit dead here so lets start the fire once again:) I have played a bit with switches and cables. I have modified a couple of TP-Links, the latest a 108v3 where a linear PSU is used and of course a Newclass D clock. There is no question that there is a difference between the stock switch and the modified one. I have also tried cables, the lates one a chord epic from the switch to the media center. Not to go into many details, the MCE is also running with linear PSUs and multiple Newclass D neutron star 2 clocks. In regards to the cables, there is difference, yet not necessary for the best. In my taste, a supra cat8 works better than the Chord in terms of sound. Yet the chord is better in terms of picture. Strange? Maybe, maybe not. Remember that all streaming is UDP based, meaning no flow or error control. If it was TCP we will have another discussion. There are alot of articles on the net in regards of new transport protocols where jitter and error correction is adressed in order to be used with audio and video data in real time. Now be nice when replying. And if bored, some interesting reading. http://www.streamingmedia.com/Articles/Editorial/Featured-Articles/Beyond-TCP-Meet-the-Next-Generation-of-Transport-Protocols-119650.aspx
  7. I have the same issue with my USB card and the new Xmos board from diyinhk. It is also a Nec chip - so you may be on to something.
  8. Not true, you can change the on board oscillators with newtron stars. yet, it may not make sense as the clock price is 10 times the price of the Pi
  9. I tried a number of cables, and as you know there is alot out there. What I ended up with is a wireworld platinum eclipse. It does the job and not *too* expensive, I also like the theory behind the wireworld cables. there may be others out there, yet this is what i chose:)
  10. With the kids out of the house I am listening to my music. No comparison- the wire world is the best of all cables I have tried until now.
  11. Got it today. first impressions, i don't know if I like it or not, something is defenently different than before. Looks like the treble is more crisp, but at the same time the sound stage got smaller. I guess it needs to settle down for a bit. Any ideas on how long it needs? br. Panos
  12. Thanks guys, for the advice and the chance to try the Eclipse. I ordered one today, I hope to get it in a couple of days. @ Alaric. So please do tell a bit about the cable. Did you compare it to anything else? br. Panos
  13. I am soooooo confused. Now I read that the Nordöst - Heimdall 2.0 is way better than the wireworld platinum. What to get!!! it is not possible to do an A-B comparison:(
  14. Hi guys, i hope this is the correct place to post this. I am looking for a good USB cable. Have some of the middle category (supra, Cardas, dyrholmaudio spirit and a cheap audioquest). Now i can see that all sound different, the best i have now is the spirit. I am thinking of buying the wireworld platinum eclipse. Any one that uses that or has any advise? Its a lot of money so some experience sharing will be appreciated.
  15. Hello sandyk, I do use diodes, in this case for voltage drop before the regulators, so they do not get warm. In the USB regulator I have 4 in series providing a drop of appr. 2.8 v:)
