  1. Is there any alternative to the ifi app on ios (Iphone) if the music source is an SSD drive directly attached (via USB) to my Zen streamer? Will Roon work? I am actually using this setup without a computer. Can I just put Roon on an iPhone w/o a computer? It sounds excellent but the ifi app is sort of primitive and I find it hard to control what it plays and its queue management. By the way, are there any decent instructions for the ifi app on the iPhone? It is hard to navigate. And the queue management is very strange; I can't even get it to, say, just play a single track and then stop without it next playing some track that I played days ago. Thanks in advance for any help. I've tried to google info about this everywhere, but I can't seem to find much.
  2. Thank you. I will note here just for background info that I love the EMM's sound, finding it much more resolving and musical (on redbook along with DSD) than my Chord DAC. I do enjoy my Chord, but the EMM is just endgame for me. Just my opinion here.
  3. @Cebolla -- OK, you are right. No, I have not tried streaming from my PC to the iPhone yet. So I cannot comment on the sound quality. All of my listening to my local files on my PC is from a direct, physical USB cable. Sorry and thanks again.
  4. @Cebolla, listening to files stored locally (either on my MSI laptop's SSD drives or external SSD drives) is somehow always better than streaming, and this has been with different internet service providers either from direct connection to a router or Wifi. I use both FLAC and DSF files. I have had different DACs over the years (mainly Chords [Hugo, the Hugo TT, now a DAVE]. @davide256, thanks for the tip, and also for the great flowchart.
  5. Thanks. I will check out the itunes method. I do have Qobuz (but, FWIW, streaming does not sound as good as actual files, and I end up buying albums or tunes I like). Thanks again.
  6. (If there is an FAQ or tutorial or thread for this, that would be great.) Summary: My current setup is a Windows PC with FLAC files and Jriver with a Chord DAC. I want to play copies of these files using my iphone on a separate USB DAC. More details if needed. I have a big directory structure of FLAC files that I use (via Jriver with a Jriver library on my Windows PC) with a (Chord) USB DAC. Is there any way to copy any of my FLAC file collection to my Iphone and use the Iphone to play this music on separate USB DAC? Would Jriver for Apple/Iphone work for this? Or do I need Itunes or some other media player software. Do I need to convert things to ALAC? Again, if there is any particular thread here about this, that would be great. Thanks. I am new to using my Iphone for music; I've basically only been in the Windows PC/Jriver world. Thanks again.
  7. Thanks for responding Ted. Yes, I have both the WASAPI and ASIO drivers for Meitner.
  8. I have not been able to play my ripped SACD dsf files via JRiver [Windows 10] on my EMM DAC. (An EMM Labs XDS1/V3 with a USB DAC mode.) They play fine through my Chord DAC. I am using the EMM driver for windows 10 and Jriver sees the EMM/Meitner Wasapi device, and the file will play but there is only a low level rushing sound. (No music). Sorry if this is the wrong thread for this post, so If I should post in another thread, please let me know and I will. Thanks for any help.
  9. OK, thank you very much. I just want to say that Qobuz is a great service. The sound quality is excellent and I plan on staying with it.
  10. Qobuz seems to offer a huge set of historic music clips from the Ed Sullivan show (via a company called SOFA Entertainment). However, it seems to limit the number of clips you can listen to for the full duration. If you try to listen to more than about 50 it seems, you can only play the first 30 seconds of any more of these. (There are hundreds of excellent clips--some amazing material). Here is a Rolling Stone piece mentioning these: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/ed-sullivan-show-streaming-1013750/ Here is the SOFA Entertainment press release summary from this summer (2020): https://www.edsullivan.com/press/ Again, Qobuz contains a huge library of these, but it stops you from playing them after some sort of limit (it stops each playback after 30 seconds). So any info about the situation here would be welcome, because, IMHO, this is pretty awesome material. Some more interesting info that I think is related: If you Google the phrase: [qobuz playing first 30 seconds of song] this issue comes up in many forums (such as Roon), and it's hard to know if it is a rights-related thing or a technical problem, so this just adds to the mystery of this behavior. I paid for a full Qobuz membership, so this is not a trial-membership issue. Thanks.

OOPS, I misunderstood, and the SDM Pack Method does indeed work! I am getting (it says during playback) 2.8224M resolution.

Thanks again Miska. OK, I will try the SDM Pack method. [EDIT: I tried SDM Pack and 256k but all I got was a distortion buzz and a quick move of the playback indicator sweep. I then dropped the SDM Pack method but still tried 256k and that did work, but the playback format says it is playing at 192k.] As far as I can see there is only one single Win 10 Chord driver download available for DAVE and other Chord DACs, and that's the WASAPI one I have. I have a question into Chord about this; I'll see if I get an answer. (There was some chatter about an ASIO driver for the Hugo, but it was said to be unstable and no longer available.)

Thank you for all your help. Although I am still using WASAPI, I at least am getting 768k PCM output now, and the sound is excellent.
