  1. Bluesound Node can play files at 24-bit/192kHz. Sonos is stuck at 16-bit/44.1kHz. That's good enough for ALAC files and such but not good enough for hi rez audio. So, that's a knock against Sonos (if hi fi is really your thing). I would love to hear from others--there must be alternatives!
  2. So true! Getting 2/3 ain't bad. After some experimentation I came up with some tentative (and fallible) findings. Jriver is not really well integrated with Tidal. You can play tidal through Jriver but only through Tidal's interface. Is that right? Jriver is so ugly and clunky. Roon is really cool. But between a streamer like Bluesound Node or Sonos (can get on eBay or audiogon used for less than list price) and the perpetual costs for Roon, it is a close call. I opted for a Bluesound Node that I got for $300 on eBay. Though I really like the cool features of Roon.
  3. This is exactly my question. I would have thought there are rather good and inexpensive solutions for Mac users who already have Apple TV, dedicated minis and large HDs. Roon looks good but are there alternatives? It has to be easy, hifi and inexpensive. Are there other threads that someone can point us too to serve as an introduction?
