  1. I don't intend to set-up RAID nor to have the NAS turned on 24/7 but I think the Red is still a wise choice, the price difference between Red and Green is worth the extra reliability. https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Western-Digital-Green-vs-Red-Hard-Drives-602/
  2. Thanks all for your responses. From what you say Seagate is generally not known for the reliability of their HDD. This being said, there should be no issue to use the Archive model for low use and velocity such as back-up drive. Does it work if I use a primary and "reliable" HDD such as WD Green 6TB for Music and an archive as a back-up? I believe Qnap NAS offer the option to automatically shut down disks when not in use, can sb confirm?
  3. No Seagate Archive at all, even for films storage? So 6TB from WD, Hitachi and HGST. Do you confirm that 5400rpm is enough for music and full HD streaming? I prefer silent disks in the living room.
  4. Thanks both your your warning, I understand it is clearly not suited to be for active use. However, can it still be used in a NAS as a secondary disk that will be off most of the time? I would like to use as a back-up of all music and for storing movies (I watch movies 2 times/week). Do you have a recommendable 6TB drive for music server?
  5. Hi everyone, I have just ordered a QNAP TS-231 NAS and need to chose the right disk. I was thinking about the 8TB Seagate Archive, any feedback on that? Archive HDD, Cold Data Cloud Hard Drive for Data Archiving| Seagate Thanks
