Gustard U12 owners, can you tell me the maximum resolution possible with optical output from this unit?

Thanks David. Interesting option I hadn't considered. Do you think this would offer better sound quality than the little Peachtree X1? It would certainly offer a lot of versatility.

Hi. I've been lurking on this site for awhile and this is my first post. I really appreciate the wealth of knowledge and experience here. I'm putting together a relatively modest system for my office based around my Macbook Air and Roon/Tidal. I have a Macbook Pro running Roon Core in my living room and am throughly enjoying it. For my office, I'm considering Audioengine HD6 speakers but my Macbook Air doesn't have an optical output to connect to the speakers and the speakers don't have a USB input. I'd like to have the sound quality improvement that would come from a wired connection rather than the HD6 bluetooth. My thought is to use a Peachtree X1 USB to SPDIF converter between the Macbook Air and the HD6s. Thoughts? Alternative suggestions? I'd like to avoid spending much more than $1000. Thanks in advance.
