Yes, you are rights, it's a Lampi GG:) I would not say it's less musical, it is just less punchy, most noticeable on drums. Unfortunately, Lampis do not support more than 128 on Linux yet. It's an Amanero issue, still waiting for a software patch to solve it.

    HQ Player

Guys, what is your experience with upsampling and processing DSD content with HQPlayer? I'm asking about DSD64 --> DSD128 and DSD128 --> DSD128. I am very happy with the result of PCM to DSD128 conversion, but, when I play DSD content, on some material I feel that DSD64 converted to DSD128 sounds a bit soft and less dynamic comparing to the same material played with DirectSDM option checked i.e., without any processing. Does anyone have similar experience?

Thank you, Miska and Bogi. I will try the Windows version. On my second question: if my volume is set at 0Db, and I do not use any convolution, when I play a DSD128 file with and without DirectSDM setting, it should sound exactly the same? By the way, Miska, in one of your older post you recommended setting volume -3db for DSD playback. Do you still advice this?

    HQ Player

Bogi, thanks a lot for a quick response. My server is on Linux and is running headless. I tried to look for a place where the HQPlayer is installed using my iPad, but did not find it. I guess, I should ask Lampizator guys for a copy or a link. So, there is no way to download the manual from anywhere on the internet? On my 2nd question: if want to upsample DSD64 to DSD128, I need to deselect DirectSDM, but then, what happens to DSD128 file? Will it be prosessed in any way?

    HQ Player

Hello everyone, I am new to HQplayer as I just received a Lampizator Superkomputer for testing, which has Roon + HQPlayer running on Linux. I have read many HQPlayer related threads here, so I think I have a good understanding of most settings, but still have a few questions: 1. Where I can get the latest version of the manual? I googled "HQPlayer manual", but the one link I found does not work. 2. I want to convert PCM to DSD128, but leave DSD without any processing. If I select DirectSDM option, will it do the trick? In other words, if I choose SDM(DSD) setting on the main screen and play DSD128 file, will it be processed in any way? 3. Miska said in one of the threads, that he recommends using linear-phase filters for classical and other music recorded in real acoustics with minimal miking. Which of the poly-sinc filters are the linear type? The ones without -mp? 4. There are poly-lin and poly-short-lin options on the DSDIFF/DSF setting men but these filters are not available on the main screen? Thanks in advance.
  6. It is strange that the review is not accessible if you go to the Audiostream site, only through this link. The DAC is also not listed in the Greatest Bits section. Is the review not finalized yet?
