I currently use them with Nelson Pass FirstWatt 5 and Burning Amp 3 front end. Very, very satisfied; and huge quality/price ratio.
I seat in near field and with significant toe in. I started with the speakers parted by ~2.5m, but settled around 2m and seating really closer (basically, using them like big headphones).
Also have used them with:
Amps: Perreaux SX25
Preamps: Nelson Pass BOZ, Perreaux SXP2, Fidelity Audio Pre 120, and also direct from iDSD
In all cases, I never found the speakers to be the weakest link. Not much power is needed (my amps are around 25W). Though I thought having an active preamp would give better results.
