  1. I'm on 2.65 demoing. Redbook Upsampling to DSD128 with the audiounit use with mathaudio room eq gives me clicks. direct mode & integer mode selected. Need to test without direct mode. 16GB Ram, I7-4770Cpu. My machine is rock solid (main use is DAW use - logic pro, reaper). These click are annoying. Damien, maybe did you test the room eq from mathaudio with DSD upsampling?. maybe a problem with this special au? its a pity...especially room eq makes wonders...

    HQ Player

With all respect Miska, but simplifying, having a much better and faster workflow does not mean worse results. Mathaudio room eq is a good example. Room Eq forces the user to take multiple measurements, at least 10 up to 20 measurements around the listening position. Its multipoint equalization btw. and free of Pre-echo (pre-ringing, pre-reverberation). Other alternative correction software solutions offer multipoint eq and avoid pre-echo that can be used in hqplayer? In addition to these aspects, mathaudio room eq is significantly cheaper than all other software solutions and offers a free plugin for foobar. Does not your own convolution engine limit HQplayer? Other sample-rates, up-sampling forces the hqplayer to resample the wav.files in the convolution engine? How does hqplayer work in this aspect? How does the convolution engine avoid pre-echos? Why not stay in your argumentation to common sampling rates? Your reasoning regarding the input capability of sampling rates (1 Hz to 4 GHz goes for PCM and 2 MHz to 4 GHz for DSD) goes past reality, at least to my reality. I think the maximum nowadays is DSD512. I see no evidence that the industry will continue to turn at the sampling rate screw. Is the user not mature enough to do decide what he wants and needs? On the one hand, the hqplayer offers options without end, on the other hand, important options, namely, the VST and AU interfaces are omitted. After all, the VST as well as the AU interface is what music professionals use. VST works up to 384khz without problems. At least, the user is hunted by hqplayer to make multi-day studies in order to be able to use the convolution engine. I#m a musician, I'm familiar with DAWs, plugins, I am an experienced computer user...but to deal with the software solutions you've mentioned, is at least for me too much. I think most of the users of hqplayer will not deal with the convolution engine at all, because it simply overcomes their abilities. In the end, the great potential of the Hqplayer simply remains unused because the user will not hear it. I know and I think you will agree, the room in which is heard, has a much greater impact on the quality than a sophisticated engine in a softwareplayer. Please, think about that. Thanks

Are you sure? Foobar runs all my DSD stuff via sacd plugin native with room eq working! So no conversion via pcm.

Are you sure? Math audio's room eq is working in foobar with DSD...sadly the sound quality with foobar can't compete with hq-player. Even if it were so, that there is no DSD support in vst-filters, what about non DSD material? In my collection DSD makes perhaps 3%...what about upsampling with redbook material? the workaround with hi-fi cable, vsthost ( a guide to...: Windows PC as a FIR Audio Processor ) helps up to 192khz with hqplayer. is there a solution out without the limitation 192khz?

@Miska i did not read the whole thread...Perhaps the subject has already been discussed. Why do you not offer a vst-interface in room eq? This would greatly simplify the topic of room correction with hq-player. The use of room correction software is a must i think. The use of REW to feed the convolution engine, is so complicated, time-consuming and IMO (we did a double blind study with 6 good ) it can't compete with math audio room eq regarding its sound quality and ease of use..It is not a question of hqplayer is probably the best player out there...but with vst-support it would be undeniable the KING. The only workaround for now is the use of hi-fi cable on windows to use math audio room eq with hqplayer...but its limited to 192 due to windows limitation. a pity...a real pity the missing vst-interface in hq-player.
  6. Of course the the L.K.S. MHDA003 will work with the L.K.S. USB device. The benefit is, that you will be able to use the 12S interface. IMO the 12S interface sounds much better than the USB interface. That will be a huge step forward in sound quality. The "limitation to 256" is IMO completely negligible. The change from USB to 12S you will definitely hear...the step up to DSD 512 probably not. Finally using the 12S interface with the USB L.K.S. interface will not degrade your sound quality. The statement from "ismewor" is nonsense. I would not use the USB interface anyway...besides you will benefit not having to check the magic world of USB cables:-) In my room the use of room correction software has next to the DAC and the software player the biggest influence on sound quality. Its a pity that the fabulous HQ-Player has no vst-support...otherwise the HQ-player would be the Sound Quality King. The internal convolution engine is nice to have for stereo, but it can't compete with the much better sounding solution with mathaudio room eq. Besides the better sound quality that mathaudio's room eq offers compared to the convolution engine, the way to the engine via REW is difficult, lengthy and unnecessarily complicated. It would be much easier to implement the vst interface in the hq-player. For example, the Room Eq plugin from mathaudio, the measurements are much faster, easier and more precise to manufacture, even without lengthy studies of REW.So remains to be able to use the Hq player with the Room Eq only the way over the Hi-Fi cable. After all, this also works perfectly, only I am limited to the PC on upsampling up to 192.
  7. added to foobar mathaudio room eq plugin. used a beyerdynamic mm1 mic for measurements. Room EQ since the mathaudio room eq for foobar is free...the investment into the beyerdynamic mm1 mic is a smart step. that sounds so much better....i'm a lucky man:-)
  8. The L.K.S. Audio MH-DA003 DAC is now working two weeks in my living room. i#m a musician and in my studio the apollo twin duo was my main dac. the neumann kh120 were my monitors. have had some rme stuff and the good old lynxtwo... a few weeks ago i've started looking for a better dac. first the violectric v800 came....not my sound....went back then the mytek 192 came....much better than the v800.. but the bass i think is too much uncontrolled and to much...so back.. then the eastern electric dac supreme came....in my opinion the much better balanced sound than the mytek. the supreme though has a severe problem with optical out....so it went back... then the lks mh-da003 came.....wwwwooooaahh. thats it, t think the lks sounds so sweet...totally balanced, very nice controlled bass and high end. extreme wide stereo field and warm!! really warm...reminds me the old analog days! now the lks runs with my reference 3a midi master speakers and my old denon pma-1315r amp... could not be happier with that sound. so detailed, 3d, warm, punchy and transparent...a dream. do yourself a favour and check this dac. the dacs i've have mentioned - the violectric v800, the mytek 192, the supreme don't touch the lks in terms of sq. it is that good! ..................... i'm running the lks on win 8.1 with foobar2000 and sacd plugin via foo dsd asio. 44,1khz 16bit files are played via lks with dsd256 with the D-filter. ...what a sound!! checked the hqplayer...sounds nice too...maybe a little better than foobar with dsd256....maybe.... but the library manager is a pain in the a....so i think i will stay with foobar. on my mac i'm using audirvana plus,,,,sweet sound...need to compare with hqplayer...
