  1. Thanks for the post John and mentioning the Kazoo option. I have used Bubble PnP for Bel Canto's streamer and it works well with Tidal. To my eyes, even the Kinsky app (excluding Tidal) has a better feel than Bubble PnP but I guess that is subjective. IMHO, the GUI on the Aurender is a very nice interface. All things being equal, I also prefer using my iPod versus my Asus Android tablet. So from a user experience, Android Bubble PnP is lacking. We all want a sexy Melco interface. Steve
  2. I'm in the process of comparing the Melco HA-N1A and the Aurender X100 and N10. I recently picked up both lines and I am learning all I can about them. I’ve gone back and forth dozens of times with a couple of my stereo systems. When comparing the the X100 to the N10, the X100 is more dynamic than the N10 (a.k.a. the plucking of the guitar strings). The X100 over the N10 are cut from the same cloth. The X100 simply is more alive. But the Melco offers a slight bit more transparency in the form of “clarity” over both Aurender models. Over and over I heard this subtle differences and it was repeatable. Both Aurenders have a “fuller” signature. Might I say a (slight) “tube-like” sound. So the Aurender was slightly more forgiving with less-than-ideal recordings. Like always, anytime you get that extra extension or transparency, subjectively it doesn’t have the same perceived bottom end. Holding to form, this is what I heard on the Melco. But it certainly wasn’t a problem in any way, shape or form. I am convinced it is specifically because the transparency was more resolving on the Melco. With great sounding products, you never get them both (transparency AND perceived bottom end). I predict the guy who loves transparency will slightly prefer the Melco. The guy who wants a “fuller” (more analog sound) will subjectively prefer the Aurender. Both are right as it is subjective. I know of customers will will always prefer the Melco as well as the opposite. So don't expect to see a definate conclusion as which is "better. Plus, I will change which I liked best based off of the music quality. Or for that matter, I will pick one over the other based of of speakers. If you have a plethora of speaker transparency, many are going to prefer the Aurender by a nose. To use an analogy with amps. The Arender was an analog Mark Levinson sound (fuller) while the Melco was more Simaudio amp like (transparency) but in comparison "thinner". Neither amp is "better" but that different. With the AUrender and Melco, both products are exceptional. I thought the Kinsky app (iPad and free) worked fine. I can also see that JRiver remote will work too but I want to shed my HTPC. I could not get Cyrus Cadence to work (others have but I gave up). The Aurenders strength is it just works and works well. But for me personally, I mandate augmenting my large library with Tidal seamlessly. For that, Aurender is a clear and obvious winner because of its app. For these who don't care about Tidal, the Aurender app is still superior. For my system and with the trade-offs, the X100 is staying in my main system. Oh.. Both products sonically beat my HTPC solution. I'm looking forward to shedding the PITA PC approach. 3. Hi Guys, 1st post and longtime lurker. This is a FANTASTIC site and I appreciate all of the expertise. For one of my systems, I want to use Tidal w/o a HTPC. To accomplish this, I am demoing the new Bel Canto REF Stream asynchronous ethernet renderer (see REFStream - e.One by Bel Canto ). For the record, it sounds gorgeous and it is a keeper. The reclocking added sonic value. The bonus is it streams with ease. I diverge.... Anyways, Bel Canto recommended I get the licensed version of Bubble UPnP for the Android. I bought a cheap Asus Android and it was a piece of cake to set-up. I am finally thoroughly delighted with the SQ of Tidal steaming and easy of use. My question is, what sort of UPnP programs are people using with the iPad/iOS? I prefer to stick with one tablet platform. Thanks! Sincerely, Steve
