  1. I'm sure we are all influenced by what we may have implemented into our systems this year. Personally: 1. Roon annual membership. 2. Allo USBridge 3. Schiit Gen 5 USB Damn, that looks so simple in retrospect. However, the path sure took a lot of turns to get here.
  2. I also had the same problem, I ended up removing the HQP as a device and when I re-added it back, instead of accepting 'localhost' as the address I use a hard 127.0.0.1 it's worth a try. Let us know how that plays out.
  3. Another plus one from an attendee at The Roon Audio Workshop. Chris, Rob, John, and others deliver a great freeform program where I think everyone left with great insight. Maier at The Audio Salon could not have been more gracious. Chris had some amazing shortcuts and workflow options I would have never known about. To spend a day inside Rob Darlings head was an invaluable experience. The big picture...Roon to go, and Roon OS on a NUC are coming very soon.
  4. Thanks all, I'll give the Gumby spdif inputs a crack with the Gustard U12.
  5. Hi Team, A bit of a newbie question here. I'm pleasantly surprised with the sound of my Gungnir/ Mjolnir combo. Running a 2010 Mac Pro Tower with Audirvana USB direct. Dirac Live, mojo 2 amp with tubes. I have tried a Schiit Wyrd cleaner with no noticeable improvement to my ears. Can anyone in my shoes recommend a decrapifier that substantially changed the quality of the USB signal going into a Mjolnir? Baby steps before even considering a NAS microrendu flow.
  6. On a mac I use Option/Space bar, perhaps on a windows machine try Alt/Space bar
  7. Expectation bias, of course. That is tweakable at the wallet level.
  8. The sound of roundwound bass strings on the title cut is one of my audio canaries when testing a system.
  9. I've built two different music servers a 2008 Mac Pro tower and a 2012 Mac Mini. Both systems are running Audirvana 2.3, bypassing core audio in exclusive access mode. All things are equal, cables, El Capitan, RAM, running processes, etc. My question is, why does a 2008 Mac Pro sound dramatically better than the later 2012 Mac Mini?
  10. All the talk about SQ between releases 2.2.4 and 2.3.1 got me to doing a little personal shoot out to what i personally prefer. The short answer is 2.3.1 works better in my environment. YMMV. I found 2.3.1. to have such an expanded 3D soundstage, and a swirly magic that words fail. The Blood Orange, Cupid Deluxe song "You're Not Good Enough", had percussion that appeared out of nowhere, a incredible vocal sustain, and discreet separation that had me pointing fingers at instruments. I am Shelby Lynne's, "I Thought It Would Be Easier" made a drum track from hell seem inviting and alive. The Alabama Shakes, Sound + Color, "This Feeling" had scoops of deep low level detail that revealed the close proximity of the studio baffles, the rustling of clothing, and round wound guitar strings. This is my favored Audirvana release with my combination of playback gear. Yes, I might be CA newbie, but I've been a studio rat for 30 years.
