  1. EuroDriver, many thanks for your very detailed response. that is what I needed. I will show this to my son and have him dig a little deeper into the implications of the changes and see what we can do. a number of knowledgeable people have encouraged me to do this, so I hope it works out to switch to the Roon -> HQP direction soon. sounds like it's workable. if I do I will report back on my experience.
  2. I need some advice, and was referred to this thread. I did read thru some of the thread for my answer but did not see it. I use a CAPv4 Pipeline Server with Elberoth mods -> Lampizator Golden Gate 'dsd' only dac. I have 15 terabytes of PCM and dsd files growing daily. Currently I'm using JRiver version 21 to upsample all my PCM to QUAD dsd and use JRemote as my interface. Also; I use Windows 2012 RS in core mode with Audiophile Optimizer. I enjoy the solid 'easy to use' interface of JRiver and am a serious vinyl and tape person for my most intense listening, but do also love great digital. I'm no techie; but have a network engineer son who has supported my technical efforts. here is my question related to this thread; is Roon -> HQPlayer upsampling PCM to Quad dsd suitable for server based listening 'only'?......and .....is this Roon-> HQPlayer upsampling pcm to Quad dsd 'ready for prime time' as a solid 'easy to use' listening solution without techie skills. I am told it's a significant jump in performance, will it work smoothly? or should I wait and give it more time to mature? will Roon -> HQPlayer work seamlessly with the Windows 2012 RS in core mode with Audiophile Optimizer without problems? I am not dis-satisfied with the JRiver pcm -> Quad dsd upsampling but would certainly appreciate a performance jump. I am happy with my dsd (up to Quad) performance as is and am not asking about that. and I owned a Trinity dac for PCM for 4 months which has set the bar very high as far as what can be done for pcm performance. I would love to get close to that with up-sampling to Quad dsd. I can get my son to help me change; but only if he won't need to hold my hand too much with the new software. my current set-up has been 100% trouble free since he set it up. thanks in advance for any help.
  3. thank you Paul. that is the most information I've got, as far as delivery time, in this whole process. very helpful to know so I can stop wondering. knowing it's 2 weeks might be worse that hoping for sooner.
  4. after 2-3 weeks of back and forth it apparently is flying to their shipper, whomever that might be, to then be shipped to me in some mysterious way. they cannot tell me any sort of ETA. if i'm lucky i'll get a tracking number soon. I've had all the parts for my CAPS v4 for 10 days waiting on this, and I have no real idea when i'll get it. i'm ok with waiting for stuff when communications are reasonable. but waiting with zero feeling for what is happening is just unacceptable in this day and age. and every step of the way has been the same with these guys. a cluster.
  5. Fyi; dealing with Teradak has been a cluster for me. very poor communication and follow through. and they cannot seem to answer my simplest questions about delivery due to the language barrier. i'm sure they have the best intensions.
  6. thanks again seb. any other advice please keep it coming. the odds increase for success on my end.
  7. thanks Adam, I can likely manage it one way or another. only sometimes when I 'go commando' on stuff it ends up looking like it. I can maybe talk my techie son into doing it as his track record on crafting stuff is better than mine. your pictures were very helpful. mike
  8. yes; I did find the info with pictures from Elb about that. I hope I can manage not to hack it up too badly. not used a Dremel before. again thank you. and thank you too, Ben, for the details. I've ordered and paid for the FC10 from the UK but it's not yet shipped. hopefully they will ship it. as a total newbie here it is great being so cared for. mike
  9. thank you sebna. that saves me lots of time trying to figure that out.
  10. Ben, many thanks for the detailed answer. in my case the unit will sit next to a small form factor box, the Streacom FC10. I will have to figure out which plate will work for that one. btw; my name is Mike and the TIA was for Thanks In Advance. I see how that was confusing. again, thank you. Mike
  11. buying an ATX 275R and Michael Li from Teradak is asking me; I tried to find some sort of information about this but came up blank. I was going to just proceed and get the standard mounting plate but I figured I'd ask first to make sure. honestly I don't even know what they are referring to. can someone explain about this? do I need a different mounting plate? TIA
