  1. Same here, and I DO have multi-region firmware on my 105. No problems at all with SACD ripping.
  2. Once you have the ISO extracted and safely stored, you've extracted all there ever is going to be from that SACD - so no, no need to re-rip. As for the extracted DSF files, try those -z and -b options; some DACs require it, some don't. If you hear artefacts, you can always re-extract from the ISO file.
  3. Not that I've read this in so many words anywhere ("balanced drive"), but I suspect that this is a version that has TWO stators, one on each side of the diaphragm, just like most other electrostatic headphones. The model One is asymmetric with a stator only on one side. The model One requires heavy DSP to sound reasonably neutral, and quickly went into overload/saturation. With double stators on the new model, perhaps the DSP doesn't need to be that extensive, and it may help with the maximum volume too.
  4. I also think you’re not precise enough when using the command line method; remember that case and spaces are extremely important! Your command should look like the one listed under step 7 in the text file: .\sacd_extract -i {BDP_IP_ADDRESS}:2002 -P -I Note that the first i is lower case, and there’s no space between the - and the i; also there’s no space between the IP address and the :2002.
  5. It STILL requires you to download and use the Spotify app as a control point; the Auralic just shows up as an output device. This is a totally different model as opposed to what Audirvana+ offers.
  6. My Aries G2 has been rock solid... The real successor to the Aries Femto is now the Aries G1; the G2 adds Lightning Link, Unity chassis and internal storage capability - but at a price.
  7. Why not use the same tools as for Windows and Mac - they do exist? (sacd_extract and iso2dsd)
  8. Only with a suitable ASIO driver; as far as I know only exaSound provides that for Mac for their DACs. For all other DACs you need to use DOP.
  9. I wrote “for this DAC” there is no advantage in using USB, as this is a PCM-only DAC.
  10. Same here - no problems whatsoever with my G2, using AES to my Metrum Pavane. (Simplest interface to use for this DAC, no advantage in using USB.)
  11. Good thing too; the conversion from DSD64 to PCM is lossy, so audio information gets lost. And what is lost is not regained in a subsequent upsampling/conversion to DSD128...
  12. Judging by the pics I've seen of the Onyx/Jade it's even easier than that: it's an internal switch, marked with the appropriate voltage. In Pavane/Adagio, it's indeed still a (soldered) jumper. One note of caution though: I suspect that when going to a substantially different voltage fuses might need changing. Lower amperage in case of higher voltage, and vice-versa. 1 fuse in Onyx/Jade, 3 in Pavane/Adagio.
  13. Since you have been using an Octave for so long, I assume you are used to the Metrum NOS house sound. You will be very happy with an Onyx (same house sound, but considerably more detail without it becoming sharp/analytical). As for a used Pavane: unless you can get hold of one that has the level2/level3 DAC2 modules (quite unlikely), then I wouldn't bother and go for an Onyx instead. If you only have digital sources, you could consider cutting out the preamplifier and drive your monoblocks directly, with a Jade instead of an Onyx. Saves 1 component and 1 set of interlinks...
  14. Hmm, tried it again and now it works (after an album via the LDS app). Good for now, will report if I run into trouble again.
  15. Yeah, tried it on my Aries G2. The Aries’ window seemingly indicates that a stream is playing; however, my Metrum DAC connected via AES doesn’t see a stream it wants to play. What is the format that the Aries presents on its digital outputs when it is playing a Spotify Connect stream?
