  1. Depending on the price, I am in for a group buy but I am not sure I am following you. Are you talking about AgeloVRA's chassis or some other chassis ? No doubt I would like to have the Taiko atx inside the motherboard chassis as well.
  2. Regarding the one box vs two box, I would prefer a one box but I am also open to whatever works and sounds best, making it aesthetically pleasing at the same time. I would also like to mention that cost is also an important factor for me - if the one box can be made relatively a lot cheaper, I would prefer that. I currently have 3 box solution - one for the server, one for the ULPS (with huge mug dual chokes) and one for the dual 5v LPS (with a 400w Toroidy supreme tranny) used for USB/NIC/FemtoSSD cards. Ideally, I would love to put everything into one box avoiding all the clutter but it may not be practically feasible without making the chassis extremely large. I have not built Sage myself in a Taiko chassis, so I do not know if the power supply inside the box affects the SQ, the Taiko Extreme has everything into one box so its able to mitigate the SQ issues somehow.
  3. @AngeloVRA, @Nenon has summarized the dual sage build requirement nicely in his last post. I am not sure what is the exact size needed but I do think apart from size, cooling the dual Xeon is very critical. Maybe a better/thicker side heatsink with proper larger diameter heatpipes on the cpu size will be needed. I am also hoping that you will design the 3647 cpu heatsink system or maybe we could leverage the Hdplex (their cpu heatsink seems pretty solid and supports 3647 socket). To be very honest, the Taiko chassis did not inspire enough confidence given their higher price point and other design issues reported by couple of users here. One thing I would like to see is the ability to mount the Taiko DC-ATX inside the chassis. If you are able to mount it vertically on the front face plate then we can make the chassis smaller, just fitting the EEB form factor (12"x13") and leaving a small amount of breather space around it.
  4. The best DIY chassis I have ever seen. I am speechless. Fantastic work. I agree that a group buy, along with support for dual Asus sage, would be nice to bring the cost down.
  5. I am completely detached from audio these days (as I peruse other projects/hobbies) but I have been using the Startech i210 single port sfp for over a year now with a Cisco AOC cable and am quiet content with the way it sounds. The server is connected to a custom modded Buffalo switch. Previously I was using Jcat Net femto but I always wanted to try a fiber nic which lead me to buy several other vendors - 10gtek and some others from ebay before I bought the Startech. I also have i350 based dual sfp nic but I did not have time to experimented much with it. Both the Startek & 10gtek sounded nice in my system but I marginally preferred the Startech. During my experiments with 10gtek, I have spoken to them at lengths about making a custom one with external +12v power (instead of feeding through pcie) and a better clock but they are only willing to do for large quantity order. If there is enough interest, maybe we can get them to build a custom one. Anyway, I am glad that folks are finding the Startech nic musical as I do.
  6. Has anybody tried the Taiko network card in a DIY server and can compare with the usual suspects, like jcat ? I am eager to try a fiber out directly from the server and looking for options.
  7. While PF’s h/w upgrade path (super caps, onboard ultra OCXO and EMI/heat shields) may be very much desirable to get the best output from a USB card, it is not a replacement for optimized DAC drivers. There is a whole slew of things (latency, buffering, interrupts, etc) with the DAC drivers and its OS environment that can make or break the sound. Ideally you want both to make the most of it.
  8. it will since it resets the rtc to 1870 😲
  9. and why would they make a cooling system which will not work with their chassis ? They are meant to be in datacenters/labs/server room, so it will be very LOUD at home.
  10. so hdplex has a cooling system for 3647 socket now ? does this mean their chassis will work with sage c621 both socket populated out of the box ?
  11. just curious - folks who received it, when did yours ship ?
  12. No luck yet on the West coast side. There is no shipping update since June 6th. I am wondering what might have gone wrong.
  13. humm…I was under the impression that they were selling DIY parts to support the DIY community that they always wanted to. In fact, they wrote this either here or the other forum, can’t remember. Being so expensive, my guess they weren’t selling them well either. Hopefully Hdplex or Streacom releases one eventually.
  14. Did Taiko stopped selling the DIY case ? Don't see it being offered anymore.
  15. I saw that thread earlier too and read with great interest. I believe there is nothing wrong in discussing it. However, its all speculation and will be for the foreseeable future unless manufacturer comes out openly (or is open-minded 😜 in discussing it's tech).
