  1. I've also just picked up a pair of sennheiser 600's, and am loving the improvement over my sennheiser 558's (running off a soundblaster ZXR). It's encouraged me to do a cable upgrade as well, though I'd like to go down the DIY route as it'll save some money and give me more control for customisation. My plan is to use teflon coated .9997 silver wire with gold solder, and gold plated jack and plugs, with the aim being to get maximum performance. However, I'd like some advice in regards to the wire; I've noticed in cables for sale that the more expensive ones tend to have more wire strands (8 or more 'cores', vs 4 for the cheaper cables) but I have no idea if this makes any audible difference or not. If more wire cores means a better listening experience then I'll use more, but if it makes no difference I'll just stick with 4. I decided to use gold solder instead of silver for the higher conductivity, but I'm not sure if the number of carats in the gold would affect this either way, if at all? Any suggestions on how I can improve on this plan would be welcome too
