  1. Thanks Damien. Message sent.
  2. Is there anyway to reset the activation for Audirvana? I've had a Mac die on me, and after migrating to a replacement Audirvana won't activate. I can't uninstall it from the old machine because it's dead. I also had Audirvana installed on an old Macbook, but that too is dead and gone, so I can't uninstall from there either.
  3. Well, sure, in the context of the audiophile hobby, Audirvana's cost is pennies. In the normal context of software, it's incredibly expensive for something that's perpetually in an alpha state. Anyway, I'll just wander off, I guess. People here seem to like this software and are willing to put up with its oddities. There's no point in my continuing to complain. It doesn't do anybody any good. For what it's worth, I genuinely think Audirvana has potential, but it just never seems to get where it's going. It's been two years since I bought it. I keep watching it to see if it will finally be fixed, but the problems just keep moving around.
  4. Okay, fair enough. I think I'm going to just put this software aside for awhile, though. I'm not expecting it to do anything complicated, and the fact that it can't manage basic functionality like reading perfectly good tags is frustrating to me beyond any minor advantages it offers in terms of sound quality. I'm not holding JRiver up as the be-all-end-all. Lord knows it has its own issues, and it looks like a Windows program to boot. It works, though, in basic ways and doesn't make me mad and waste my time every time I use it. Frequently, I just want a player that will play music while I try to get some work done, and with Audirvana I inevitably end up getting so distracted and annoyed trying to get it to work that I lose a significant amount of focus. Audirvana is a liability. Edit: So after I wrote this, I fired up the trial of HQPlayer and was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of sound listening to Peter Gabriel. I heard things I hadn't heard before. To be fair, I decided to see how Audirvana compared, and . . . Peter Gabriel is missing from the artists list -all 15 albums have gone missing. So long, Audirvana. I'll check back around version 3.0 or 4.0. Maybe by then Damien will have spent some of those $80 licensing fees on some programming books.
  5. There seems to be an implication here that my tags are at fault, but I can assure that is not the case. These are tags that work perfectly in every other program. The ones currently in question also worked perfectly in Audirvana until this most recent release. Now I have many artists that have simply disappeared and are not listed in the artist list. I have artists where only some of the albums now appear, like for example the Beatles, where only The White Album is listed out of the whole folder of many albums. I like that album, but I'd like to listen to others as well. Then there are the songs where the tag is there, but the title has now disappeared. I'm fed up with this. Reading and sorting metadata is a solved problem, and yet Damien doesn't seem to be able to manage it. Every new minor point release brings new regressions. For every problem he solves, he creates three new ones. He charges a lot for this software, so it should work a hell of a lot better than it does.
  6. Oh, I didn't even know it did that. I just thought I had some stuff accidentally tagged "Various Artists". Sadly, still no Billy. He doesn't even show up in the Artists lists anymore. I can only find him by searching, and then only two of 11 albums show up. I'm just going to go back to JRiver again for a while. Audirvana sounds a bit better, but the interface infuriates me.
  7. Anybody else having serious tag issues with this update? I've had a whole bunch of stuff disappear. For example, my entire Billy Joel collection is gone. There are 11 albums in there, which used to previously be fine, but now only one shows up. A lot of other stuff has had the title tag disappear. This is stuff that was previously fine. And for the record, the tags are perfectly fine in every other app I can find.
  8. I think he's in hiding. Or maybe just working hard on version 0.2.6.1
  9. I've had similar issues for some time with this program. Tags that are perfectly fine in every other audio player and every tagging app I can find are simply not good enough for Audirvana. In quite a few instances I've given up and just re-ripped the albums because I can't figure out why they won't show up. And then there's the albums whose songs show up, but are missing a field, like the title, even though they show up in Audirvana's own tag editor. Again, the only solution has been to re-rip and start from scratch. Between stuff like this, the many bugs and holes in the UI, and now the inexplicable loss of sound quality from the late beta to the "final" version of 2.6, I've given up. This is not an $80 application. This is an application that is still alpha quality. The sound quality can be quite good, so kudos to Izotope, but the rest of it is a mess.
  10. So that's it then. Sigh...
  11. I've just noticed that when it seems as though the Artist list position seems to have been forgotten, it hasn't. The same artist is still highlighted, it's just that the list has scrolled itself back up to the top. It amounts to the same thing in practice, but it is partially fixed. The issue with the failure to populate the song list will go away if I click back and forth a couple of times.
  12. Thanks Damien. You can't imagine how much this was starting to annoy me. There seem to still be a few glitches here, though. It works great, the first time anyway. But after a few clicks back and forth, or if I change the original position and then go back and forth, the Artist position is lost, although the Album list is still there and the filtered tracks in the main list at the bottom is unchanged. And, it doesn't happen every time, so I'm still trying to sort out what's going on, but several times after I have gone back and forth, the filtered list at the bottom is just blank and won't populate, no matter what album I click on. Still, thank you so much for working on this. Your efforts are appreciated.
  13. But by then, Audirvana's interface might actually be functional.
  14. What happens is, if you're in Tracks view in Audirvana, and you're browsing by Artist and then by Album, adding songs to the Play Queue as you go, if you change view to the Play Queue and then come back, the list view is now back to the very top of the Artist list. Your position is completely lost and you have to once again scroll down in the artist list, find your spot again, then scroll in the album list to get back to where you were. This is very frustrating after it's happened to you a few dozen times in an evening. It is compounded by the fact that there is no ability to move within a list by typing a letter on the keyboard, as you can do in virtually every Mac application ever made.
  15. Still no fix for list positions not being remembered when changing views. I guess it's back to JRiver for me. I'll check back around version 2.7 or 2.8, in a couple of years likely, to see if anything has improved.
