  1. Disregard this request, I have flashed the dac and am able to get 512 dsd via my current Linux NAA. Best, Ed
  2. We have 512 native via Linux NAA (battery powered) and it sounds great! I had the correct drivers installed, I had installed the wrong CPU firmware. Big thanks to all who answered my questions especially OE333 for his invaluable insight to all things T+A on this site. Best, Ed
  3. I installed the 1081 firmware and updated the drivers per the note on the Amanero site, I didn’t see the driver note directly under the CPLD_1081 regarding drivers until after I had installed what is listed as the Main Driver at the bottom of the page in the pic above. The DAC is working but only under PCM, which was the same way it operated before I installed the T+A driver. What driver should be used with the CPLD 1081 firmware? The unit currently only show the Combo384 driver although the UAC driver for W10 & 11 have been installed Thanks, Ed
  4. Thanks OE333, that corrected the issue and I was able to flash to 2.70, much appreciated. Proceeding with an abundance of caution , before flashing the USB with the Amanero software I thought I should note, the current revision is OEM tool 118, there appears to be a CPLD_1081 as well as a SWAPPEDSD version, I read amongst the threads that the SWAPPEDSD is the channel correct version, is this accurate? Also, it appears the 1080 has been replaced with 1081 (OEM tool 118), please advise if I should continue to look for the 1080 files or if the 1081 are known good. Below is what I am seeing on the Amanero site. Thank you again for your assistance with this. Best, Ed
  5. Thank you for the reply. Yes regarding the CRTL socket. I am attaching a pic of the RJ12. When I plug the usb end into the laptop the D8D turns on for several seconds, is that typical? Thanks, Ed
  6. I have a T+A DAC8 DSD, I have the parts to flash it although no joy with getting it to connect. While deciding on whether to flash the DAC I purchased a fabless mini windows pc to allow me to run 512 DSD to the D8D. After I had ordered it I saw a recommendation from Miksa to get a unit with minimum of 8g ram, this unit has 4. I can still return this pc, but before doing so I thought Inwould reach out to see if this unit would/should meet the requirements for a windows NAA, see below for specs, BTW, it is running W10 pro. If it is sufficient , which image should I use? Thanks, Ed
  7. So far no joy regarding updating the firmware on the D8D. The unit will not connect. When I connect the DAC to the PC via the RJ 12 cable into the usb slot the DAC turns on for 20 seconds or so then turns off. I have verified and reverified the wiring, checked continuity of the RJ 12. I have RJ 12 pin 2 black to 5 on the 232 breakout board, red 3 to 2 and yellow 5 to 3. I have verified that com port 4 is the usb com port, when tested it comes back with the error in a matter of a second or so. The RJ 12 is plugged into the CRTL port of the D8D, I am using a usb to rs232 cable from a W8 laptop. I saw someone mention using an RJ11 cable but they only have 4 wires so I don’t know which would connect where, all of the pics on the D8D thread appear to be 6 conductor RJ12. I have attached a pick of the cable, any recommendations are welcome. Best, Ed
  8. Thanks for the replies gentlemen, I have ordered the cables and adapters to complete the upgrade, they should arrive today. Wish me luck! Best, Ed
  9. Thanks Apollo, I found the thread on the D8D since posting my question, lots of good info. Best, Ed
  10. Thanks for the reply, can you tell me why someone would reflash to the original firmware? Is there a sonic difference between the original and updated firmware? One other question, the instruction indicate that the rs232 interface plugs into the USB on the DAC8, but the instructions for the rs232 interface indicates it plugs into the rj12 connection, which did you use? For the rj12 it appears I would need the following, does this look correct? : Thanks, Ed
  11. I have seen several threads where building a Windows based NAA is discouraged. I have a T+ A DAC8 DSD that will have to have the USB flashed to allow 512 DSD via a Linux NAA ( microrendu currently). I have spoken to T+A, they do not support flashing of the USB, however they do offer instructions and warn against the possibility of bricking the unit. For those that have flashed the unit did the process give you any issues? I was an electronics tech in my youth so am fairly technical and can follow instructions, however I would really hate to brick the DAC. The other possibility would be to build a windows based NAA, but I haven’t found any instructions to do so. Please let me know of your experiences with either of these scenarios. Thanks, Ed
  12. Thanks Argon, that got me pointed in the right direction, with a little more googling I was able to get it running. Thanks again! Best, Ed
  13. I have the (original?) Sonic Transporter. I haven’t used this in years, as I recall as a server it could only do 44.1. I believe it is an intel i3 unit, I have confirmed it has 2 cores and is running Fedora. It is small and fanless and would appear to be a good candidate for NAA use. Has anyone converted on of these? I downloaded the latest x64 NAA build and created a bootable flash, but the Sonic Transport did not boot from it. I know little to nothing about Linux. Should this work? Did I download the wrong image? Any input is appreciated. Best, Ed

    HQ Player

The iPadOS works very well, it’s responsive, intuitive and simple to use. It works the way I listen to music. I will be testing with Qobuz , I understand there may be some issue currently but want to give it a try. Still a newb with HQ player but have been able to try various settings. I am really enjoying what it is doing in my system. I was looking for a Roon replacement and I like this streamlined UI. Best, Ed
