  1. Hey Now,

When did you decide to steal from me? You cashed my check for $423.00 on 10NOV15, weeks ago for the purchase of your iFi Micro DSD DAC, Breeze PS, SBooster and AQ Dragontail you advertised on Audio Asylum. You have not sent the items to me yet. You have not returned any calls, e-mails or text messages since 22NOV, when you hinted it was shipped. I have called, e-mailed and texted you everyday since the 24th. You posted on this forum Monday morning twice, so I know you are active on the interwebs.

Today you posted a Schitt Yggdrasil DAC on Audio Asylum and I sent an inquiry. You replied to it, not knowing it was me. Then you figured it out was me and deleted your ad. You changed your Audio Asylum forum name to 2112 from [email protected].

Well, Michael Campbell, you are a petty thief. Man up and do the right thing and send me a check for $423.00, the amount of money you stole from me.

    Finest kind,

    Chris

  2. Hey Now,

Send me what I purchased from you or pay me back my $423.00. You know what to do!

  3. Norton -- to clarify: I meant impediment to how louisjames wants his system to sound . . . not that the speakers themselves are (necessarily) an impediment to good sound. But I've been wrong before, and I will be again.
  4. louisjames -- your words: 'I thought about the Yggrasil but comments I've read seem to indicate it has the same family sound and can be a bit "crispy" on top.' Sounds like you're now backtracking on those words? And if your system is already 'in your face', might behoove you to start there; sounds like you're not looking for a dac, you're looking for a dac that's a tone control. I suspect that your Marantz and turntable are acting as just that -- tone controls, which is why you're happy with them. And that's fine. But don't blame something when it gives you the truth. I too suspect your speakers are your biggest impediment, but it sounds like you want to keep them (& that's your prerogative). To reiterate: don't blame something because it's showing you the true nature of how your system sounds without acting as a tone control.
  5. Here's a novel idea -- why don't you try them all, and see which sounds best to you.
  6. louisjames -- the one word I'd never use to describe the Ygg is 'crispy'; in my system it has been anything but. I'd encourage you to actually 'listen' to one. You have 15 days to listen to it; one caveat though: do not judge it straight out of the box. It is the one component I have heard change more over the first few days than any other. If you don't want to spend the $$ for a Ygg (which I understand), just get your current dac upgraded, see if you like that, go from there. Because you may just fall in love with it . . . all over again. (Additionally, I'd like you to link to where it was called 'crispy' because I'd like to read what else they had to say).
  7. Didn't Ifi say the same about the original iUSB and ipurifier? And they were a FAR cry from the 'grand slam'.
  8. Pathetic attempt at free advertisement. Chalk me up as a non-buyer.
  9. Here's another one loving the Curious cables with the Regen. Even my better half noticed on a netflix show we were watching; she asked what I had done, and said it all sounded more 'homogenized'. All I had done was put in the Curious: they weren't even fully broken in. (She played clarinet throughout h.s. & college marching band, & has a good ear; but rarely does she comment on the sound (she always says it's good; and it is), so for her to comment (unsolicited) says something.)
  10. I can't see how that would be productive to the original query; but hey, I've been wrong before (& will be again).
  11. I have ordered a Ygg & anxiously await its arrival. In my experience power cords make huge differences (sometimes good, sometimes for naught) on digital equipment. From the folks who already have it -- what power cord are you using with it, and what did you experiment with to get there? Thanks ahead of time for the info. Everybody have a good day, m
  12. It isn't humanly possible for me to care less what Stereophile recommends or doesn't; it's probably been (well) over a decade since I've even looked at one. I suspect their 'recommendations' have more to do with (related) ad revenue than actual LISTENING. And I believe in getting the best bang for my buck too: I want the best DAC I can get for the buck; not the best dac with a bunch of other stuff thrown on top of it. But hey -- different strokes for different folks: that's why there are so many dac's in the world. Something is puzzling though . . . since you are so negative on this particular dac, why are you even bothering to post in this discussion? And it seems most of the posts I read from you are negative; why are you such a negative person?
  13. If you're unhappy with the 15 day return policy, don't buy one. It really is that simple. And in the days of $10,000 - $15,000 dacs, yes $2300 is inexpensive for a state of the art dac. In fact, it 's a downright bargain; I've ordered one.
  14. Perhaps it would behoove you to reread: Making a judgement on a DAC's superiority or inferiority based on the number of bits advertised is foolish. For example, a 24 bit DAC has a theoretical maximum SNR of 144 dB, but the best current DACs can only obtain an SNR of 124 dB or 21 bits due to the noise floor of the components. In addition, human hearing has a dynamic range of about 120-130 dB. What's more, DACs have what's called Equivalent Number of Bits (ENOB) to signify the actual resolution of the DAC. A closer look at many 32 bit DACs reveals they actually have an ENOB of 19.5. Can you see why making judgements about DACs based on specifications is ridiculous?
