  1. Mine seems FAST! Sent it this monday mid afternoon from Lisbon and this morning it was already in Beijing!
  2. Following some advice from this Forum participants I ordered and installed a Sbooster Vbus isolator, first between Regen and my AURALiC Vega DAC to double check if it worked OK without the 5v line, which it did. I did this test using the Sbooster in tandem with the Regen short adapter. Having confirmed no 5v was needed I proceeded to the next logical step, ordering a dedicated short connector from Forza Audioworks, requesting Matt not to use the 5 v power line. Arrived, tested with it and putting the now unused Sbooster Vbus isolator between AURALiC Aries and Regen ( with my short AQ Diamond USB in between Vbus isolator and Regen. I can report immediate gains in what concerans, at the lack of a better expression, communicabilty and pace of music. Just like there was a better musician playing the same music as before!
  3. Hi Robin, What you say is exactly what I mean to say, not that it is the best solution (or is mentioned/advertised by Uptone as the best solution) but that is what they believe to be the best solution for the price they sell the Regen. I re-read what I wrote and I think that is clear, but do not want to transmit what you consider a "false" statement... Cheers and happy listening everybody [emoji445]
  4. Thanks Cornan. I use an Auralic Vega fed by an Auralic Aries, usb connection via AudioQuest Diamond into Regen into Uptone short adapter. So you would recommend using vbus isolator before or after Regen?
  5. Hi! I would very much like to try the Polish Songs! Thanks in advance!
  6. Thanks kk but that was not my point. I am trying to establish something different here, not what cable is best. 4est, I see your point, but then again, the same logic applies for the cable, nothing much in there...
  7. I hope this is the proper chat. While I follow-up on the subject of using the uptone supplied usb short adapter -not the short cable - vs a dedicated short cable such as Curious Cable, I have not seen anyone commenting on possible use of a better version of the short adapter. As it so happens with the power supply, UpTone seems to think they provided the best possible solution - the short adapter - for the best cost/perfomance ratio. So the BEST solution for a higher cost is a short cable of a different provenience, OR a better quality short adapter, should it exist? Comments greatly appreciated.
  8. Folks: one sugestion, spend more time listening to music...and less time arguing. Either with Regen, as myself, or without Regen, The great thing is listening to music in a way that is more involving. For me Regen has allowed me to listen longer and to enjoy more of my favourite recordings, as well as redescovering some I previously did not like that much. Some may think otherwise. Too much time wasted arguing about it.
  9. Got my Regen and been running it almost non-stop. Oh, my... Even from the stock MeanWell it was an UNSUBTLE upgrade, way, way beyond what I was expecting... Today my HDPlex PS was delivered in the mail and guess what? Without burn-in, another leap forward in terms of detail, but not harshness. The Regen is sensible to PS upgrades, there lied the clear proof. In the words of the great Roger Waters, its a (audio) miracle. Well done, Alex and John!
  10. Got my HDPLEX 100W Linear Power Supply by mail delivery and after a few hours of initial burn in, I put it to action. First reaction is on unpacking: this thing is built like a tank, but a precision one. The feeling of the finishing and the sheer weight of the power supply is something I was not really expecting, given its sensible price. I got this unit mainly to power on my new UpTone Audio Regen, that I have been running from its supplied SMPS (which was choosen by UpTone for its qualities) but also to power my router or my WDTV video streamer and get another SMPS out of my sockets. Regen runs from 6 to 8 volts but UpTone advised that I could run it at 9v, without adjustments at the HDPLEX power supply (its 9v. output can be adjusted downwards as per Larry’s instructions). Well, the differences were not of the very subtle kind, and made the miracolous Regen shine even more. Even without much of burn in, what I felt (and also a friend that droped by and is used to much higher end stuff than mine) is that everything got evidently more detailed, without the common harshness that more often than not occurs. I am no reviewer, and as so my vocabulary may not match theirs, but I can put as simply as this: it seems that the musicians are playing better, and that I can more easily see (hear) into the music. And taking into account that the standard SMTP that ships with Regen is a very good one... That’s more that we can ask from this simple upgrade. I feel that I can gain from a longer burn-in, and for sure I will try the adjustment of the 9v. Output to 7,5v. to power the Regen, just for fun. I mean once I can get away from listening music with this great combination of Regen+HDplex. Which may not be in the coming weeks...
  11. Have tried that in my setup. as I wanted to put NAS quite far away from the main system and no way I could co hardwired. Quite noticeable sound degradation with powerlines on. NAS stayed where it was.
  12. I have also an Aries and a Synology NAS.Was getting such issues with Synology Media Server, changed to MinimServer and recently to Lightning Server which is now part of DS Lightning. Never had those issues again... I read that you would prefer to stick with Synology's but give it a try with Lightning. You do not need to uninstall Synology, and you can compare.
  13. Something quite similar happened to me with LightningServer nor recognizing the path to the network folder, altough it could initially log in to it. In my case, the workaround I found was to initially select MinmServer and after that changed to LightningServer, wich by then worked fine. As I said it worked for me, but I was left believing that it was more of a network config issue that Lightning related.
  14. I have been testing the v2.1 update by courtesy of Auralic, as my setup was probably one the most challenging due to my now almost pre-historic iPad 2 (not the Air 2) and 1st. generation Airport extreme. I am glad to report that ALL mty previous issues seem to have been solved by this version Initial opening of App and album selection is almost immediate (previous it was around 40 seconds!), search is likewise almost immediate, album scrolling etc. the same. I have to say that before this I was using Kazoo, but no more. Ah, and LightningServer is finally quite fast, on pair with MinimServer. Hats off on my side to Auralic for this update, its what I have been waiting for a long while.
