  1. Maybe try another IEC power cable. I have had certain ones in the past that don't fit that well. Some can be a bit loose.
  2. Thanks to Zaph and Dan for helping me fix my problem. It was my user error and Zaph has an excellent guide which I missed following a key point. I just needed to install the latest Microsoft runtime and reboot and all working. I really appreciate you guys for your help on this.
  3. Thank you. I gave it a shot to disable the Microsoft built in Windows security. Even put in a exclusion for folder foo_pggb_rt and no go still. I always go to Foobar website to download the latest one. I will try at some stage formatting and setting up windows again. As there is not much on this PC now. Used now for mainly Audio only. Might try uninstalling Foobar and reset that up, now I know this is not a common error problem for others. I have a JCat usb XE card in there going to a Singxer SU-6 then Holo Dac.
  4. I installed PGGB-RT a little while ago into foobar but have not be able to get it started. Foobar v1.6.9. Just cloned my 120GB SSD c: to a new 500GB SSD in case it was that. 425GB free now. Windows 10 Pro 64bit 21H2 with all current updates. GA-H81.Amp-UP mb, 16GB ram, Intel i5-4460T Everytime I start foobar and look at the console I see Components loaded in: 0:00.932679 Configuration read in: 0:00.134356 foobar2000 v1.6.9 [standard] User Interface initialized in: 0:00.102812 foo_upnp: succesfully loaded file C:\Users\stere\AppData\Roaming\foobar2000\foo_upnp.xml foo_upnp: initialized in 0.008s PGGB-RT init failed: I/O error (win32 #536) FFmpeg version: 4.3.1 Startup time : 0:02.518989 Using ASIO and now tried ASIO2 in the output. Is that something obvious to others I need to do to get it started? Is this error mean I have something setup wrong? PGGB-RT init failed: I/O error (win32 #536) I could always try a reformat of Windows. I think I did that about a year ago but ported over all my settings for foobar etc. This being my media PC for 8 years with different Windows versions over time.
  5. I did just find this readme txt that might give some insight? https://www.thesycon.de/usbaudio/TUSBAudio_history.txt
  6. Thanks Simon as that got me too look more into the JCat Femto USB card. I noticed in my notes that I have to listen louder with Spring 3 than my previous Spring 2 to bring some of the details out more. Not so good as low listening levels that I used to use as background music while working on PC. Saw some great Reviews on the Ferrum Hypsos Power Supply and have always been looking to buy a versatile power supply. Its on special here plus what I hear worldwide with shortages in the chip market and transport, things may go up or be hard to source. The Hypsos would allow me to run most components as future stuff. Looking at phono stages, RPI4 devices, Lumin etc. Got the the Hypsos and decided I would try it out on the JCat USB card. It has transformed my listening. I have all those micro details back, great separation, bass with impact, better soundstage etc and great again to listen at low levels. Used that a few days and switched back to my usual other Cheaper chinese 5V PSU (talema 25W one) and it drops those attributes again. Back to Hypsos and all great again. This surprised me no end. I was not expecting a different PSU connected in my chain here would have such an effect. Still using the JCat to Singxer SU-6 to i2S on the Holo. My PC (my source for music) which has the JCat card is an older Gigabyte GA-H81.Amp-UP MB with i5-4460T CPU. Hence I have been looking at getting a new source one of these days. So maybe with my system has benefited well from the better PSU on the JCat. I am sure the Spring 2 was all ok before (loved listening sessions) but it has now been over a month since I sold it, so no current comparisons but now I feel I am back to a great place in my listening sessions.
  7. Thanks for the reply. I have switched to straight USB for a bit to see how it all goes without the Singxer. Did not like what I heard last night but this morning it is better. Will do some more listening in the next week and swap around connections to see how it all pans out.
  8. In the past with both the Spring 1 and Spring 2, the Singxer was a noticeable upgrade to the sound. Same setup. So thought it might be the same with the Spring 3. I am hoping with more hours on it, it will sound at least as good as the Spring 2. (Had great enjoyable listening sessions with that setup) Then might try out the USB but the Singxer was a very welcome step up for me on the previous ones over straight USB.
  9. Not yet. I had the Spring 2 connected to the Singxer SU-6 i2S like this, so was hoping to see if the Spring 3 was an upgrade to the sound. Not so sure about that. I have the Spring 3 Level 2 , so the USB does not have the new Titanis circuit. So would of thought the Singxer SU-6 using i2S should be a little better, from listening this way to my previous Holo Dacs I have owned. (Spring 1 then Spring 2)
  10. I have the Holo Spring 3 level 2 here. Previous Dac was the Spring2Lv2. Windows 10 PC with a internal JCat USB Femto v2 card to Singxer SU-6 then i2S to Holo Spring 3. Majority of listening is 44.1K Nos using JRiver, Foobar etc. I have noticed the Spring 3 sometimes has a slight sibilance (especially female vocals), that I did not get with the Spring 2. The overall sound is not up to what I had before. The Spring 2 was amazing in my system and have not had that with the Spring 3. Spring 2 was over 2 years young. Also with the Spring 3 now, there seems to be a slight emphasis on the upper midrange?. A very slight type of sharpness especially when turning up the volume a bit. Reading the forums here on the May Dac, I see there is PLL locking. So I just disabled the PLL and just started listening. I don't notice the sibilance anymore or the emphasis on the upper midrange. Will have to try it over the next few days. Could it be something to do with using the Singxer SU-6 and the PLL locking is having some sort of slight detrimental effect? Is it possible this could be some sort of clocking issue maybe or clashing in some way with the SU-6? Not cluey of this stuff myself, just throwing it out there. I have only started listening with PLL off but thought I might post this in case others might shed some light or notice something like this with the May when using say an external DDC. This Spring 3 has around 280 hours so far.
  11. I keep it at 100% for when I sit down for a good listen or when someone else comes around for a listen. Other times when background listening I may use Foobar, Aimp or any other players volume for convenience.
  12. I changed a tube in my Preamp from a Tesla E88CC to Telefunken PC88 and it all seems to have fallen back into place. Have the great instrument separation and little details and depth back again. Maybe it was just the Tesla tube that was clouding the sound.
  13. Yes I have ran the Singxer for just over a week non stop since changing the capacitors. My system is always bordering a bit too smooth and I have put it down to my room. Currently running Tekton DI speakers. So it just might be me that notices this more than say someone who has a system that is a bit more lively already.
  14. I did the change to the LPS-1 power supply and ran a cable direct from the board to the LPS-1. Great upgrade!! There was a big change in clarity and leading edges to instruments and definition it was amazing. To the point it could very occasionally seem a bit etched, but it was only slight and only on some some songs but very enjoyable. Then decided to replace the 5 caps to the R70J221MDN1 - Nichicon - Aluminum Organic Polymer Capacitors 6.3V 220uF. Now this is where is seems to have smoothed out the sound a bit too much. Its as if I have lost a bit of that definition to the instruments that I had. Blending together a bit more. I have since changed the 3.3V regulator and still don't think it was quite as good as just the LPS-1 change on its own. Anyone else find this at all? Its like the cap change has mellowed the sound ever so slightly. Since the capacitor change I would have ran it for around 200 hours. The new regulator has only been a day or 2.
  15. Thanks guys, now set to a fixed IP in the router.
