  1. Quoting from this article: https://audiophilestyle.com/ca/reviews/my-quest-for-a-new-dac-part-2-ayre-qx-8-r737/ Everything I like about the Codex, the QX-8 does similarly, but better. I've described the Codex as having a lovely midrange, a satisfyingly solid mid-bass, and a smooth, refined treble. Dynamics-wise, it can be a bit polite-sounding, which I attribute to its necessarily small PSU, to fit its small case. Ryan, do you agree with this statement, in particular, the PSU? Does the same thing apply to the QB-9 Twenty? The size and quality of the PSU seems to be SO important to all audio gear.
  2. Actually, I'm in error. I think the proper comparator is the QX-8.
  3. Man, a whole lot of trolls on this thread. See here for a review on this cable from the estimable Christiaan Punter: http://www.hifi-advice.com/blog/review/cables-reviews/reviews-digital-cable/mad-scientist-black-magic-usb/
  4. Yep. PS Audio's business model is intriguing, particularly as it relates to DACs. The idea that the company can effectively, through software, regularly improve the sound of your DAC (as opposed to having to constantly upgrade) is a compelling one.
  5. My mistake, not DirectWave but DirectStream, jeez louise. Streaming - thanks, I'm not terribly familiar with PS Audio DACs so this clears up matters for me.
  6. Appreciate the comparison. By chance, have you heard the Jr.'s big brother, the DirectWave model? And silly question but what do you mean by a "streaming Dac"? One that you're streaming music to?
  7. Yes, I'd be curious to hear what the OP thinks about the DSJ's sound vs the Stellar Gain - thanks.
  8. Guys, I have a question. I have an older Border Patrol DAC that uses the C-media 6611 chip set with Windows 10. I can use the driver on the C-media website, but I'm wondering if I'm better off using another driver - or does it matter. I do use JPlay software as well. Any thoughts?
