I was thinking about purchasing a Classe Audio Sigma SSP which implements bass management on its USB/DAC and it has SPDIF coax inputs. So I can use either one. I just didn't know which one has a better sound quality. It seems like Audiophileo 2 / Sigma SSP is my best bet. Have you ever used SOtOM USB card on your PC and USB/DAC together? Is USB/SPDIF converter still better than SOtOM/USB DAC combo? Please let me know if you or other users/experts have a better idea.

Is there a difference in sound quality between USB/SPDIF converter and USB/DAC? In your opinion, is one superior to the other? Why people use one and not the other?

Good Morning, Using an Asus Xonar STX / Oppo-105 / Krell Foundation (using S/PDIF from PC to either Oppo or Krell), would I still need an SPDIF re-clocker or a USB to SPDIF converter to get a better sound or do you think direct digital (RCA SPDIF) from Xonar to DAC is good enough?
