  1. I didn't read the OP so i made an irrelevant comment.
  2. Well, it's taken me a while, but I'm finally to the point where I'm not cringing when listening to music - I'm able to relax and enjoy it. Here's my basic setup: Amp: Nuprime IDA-16 (SPDIF coax input) Speakers: Chane A5RX-C Streamer: Raspberry Pi3 w/Hifiberry Digi+ Pro and AQVox 1A 5V LPS (soldered 2 pin header onto Hifiberry PCB) Source: Tidal Hifi (BubbleUPnP Server) or 24/192 HD FLAC (minimserver) on QNap NAS Controller: Android BubbleUPnP App Got the music playlists working without stuttering by using the Bubble Server app and creating an OpenHome renderer. I'm going to wait for some more options to hit the market for streaming Tidal Masters before I upgrade again. Then again I may try the IDA-8 amp for fun just to see the differences. Thanks to all for your help, especially cebolla.
  3. Well turns out it does need 5V so did I just sacrifice two cheap cables to the pixie dust cable God? Am I in the club?
  4. Have you (or anyone) considered cutting the + wire or is that not a factor for audio quality?
  5. When I plug my new nano iUSB3 in, the wall wart makes a high pitch noise. Maybe 12-14khz. Not loud but I can hear it in the office. Is that normal?
  6. Yes. I'm picking RuneAudio(OpenHome) as renderer on bubbleupnp android controller app The "library" is "Local>Cloud>Tidal". I don't see RPi3 as an option to stream Tidal. Should I? How can I set that up? I'd rather have the RPi3 doing some of the lifting. Thanks!
  7. Hello, Thank you for the detailed response. I understand how much critical information I've omitted. Last night, per recommendation from RuneAudio forum ( http://www.runeaudio.com/forum/bubble-upnp-t2855.html ) I created a RuneAudio OpenHome renderer from the BubbleUPnP Server app running on my Qnap NAS. That seems to have resolved it (for now). So the problematic setup was: -BubbleUPnP Android App -RPi3 w/Rune Audio Image -Tidal Hifi Problem: intermittent stuttering New Setup: -BubbleUPnP Server running on QNap NAS -OpenHome RuneAudio renderer running on above bubble server -RPi3 w/Rune Audio (wifi and bt disabled) -BubbleUPnP android app controller (samsung s7) So, in my new setup, what part of the chain is doing what? Is my phone doing all the downloading from TidaI? I suppose I'm asking what the difference between a "server" "renderer" and "controller".
  8. Anyone using bubbleupnp with raspberry pi having track stuttering and restarting issues? I get it randomly. Desktop software and android app work fine..
  9. FYI Also found that the Elac Discovery supports Tidal but does not have MQA DAC. So it will play "Masters" but not perform all the unfolding of an official MQA decoder DAC. I suppose there are similar options from Auralic and Aries as well. For now I will try the iFi Nano IUSB3.0 with my laptop and see how that works.
  10. Yes the pi has a roon "bridge" image available. What is RAAT? Would that allow the amp to decode MQA? Bluesound seems like a good solution. I might wait a bit to see what else comes out. I use my laptop's USB to output Tidal Masters to the Nuprime amp. Anyway, I ordered an ifi nano iusb3 to try. It seems like a decent value and can power my pi, at the very least.
  11. I'm not really interested in paying for another subscription such as Roon. Therefore, I've concluded that it may be best (for now) to use the laptop for playing Tidal Masters on my main set. Perhaps installing a USB Regen type of add-on would help?
  12. Trying to play Masters on my main set in the living room... What kind of encoder/streamer should I use? Can I use BubbleUPnP or do I need a computer hooked up? Pluggin into a Asynch USB or SPDIF coax on my amp. Budget ~$1000. Thanks
