I'm having similar problems.
I have a Late 2012 Mac Mini (i5 2.5, 16GB, 500GB HDD) connected via USB to a Peachtree Decco 65
All the external HDD's are on a powered hub.
I'm getting dropouts every once in a while, usually several partial second dropouts in a row.
I reinstalled Yosemite and it didn't make a difference.
I'm to the point where I'm ready to reinstall the whole system from scratch to see if that helps...
but first I'm going to try optical. Unfortunately from my understanding is that the Mac Mini can't output 192 via optical, only 96.
Is this correct?
