  1. Every man to his taste. I listened to the Blomstedt DG once and retired it. That's when I decided to download the DSD B'Rock. Before these two, I was used to the Munch/Boston Living Stereo SACD. edit: I clicked Quote in @austinpop's post but quoted @AnotherSpin . Odd.
  2. It is a standard redbook CD release by Pentatone but NativeDSD offers high-resolution downloads (DXD and DSD). The original recording was made in DSD 256fs (then probably edited and mastered in DXD because the Pure DSD release tag is not on) :-(
  3. @AudioDoctor Thanx. Certainly, I know of the general reply box, but I wanted to reply to a specific post in a way that the poster could get notified just like on other similar forum sites. But I don't want to derail the discussion about the album of the evening. On topic: yesterday I was listening to that new Schubert release on Pentatone over and over again. I was glued to the listening chair. It was THAT good especially the Unfinished symphony. By the way, you can listen to the whole album on NativeDSD if you click on the sample play buttons. (Probably an error, but that's how it is).
  4. I haven't been around for a while and it seems that after a redesign of the site I just cannot find the reply button in posts! All I found was the LIKE, SHARE, REPORT and QUOTE buttons. Anyway, I have just downloaded the same program (i.e. Schubert's 'Great' and 'Unfinished') by the B'Rock Orchestra conducted by Rene Jacobs on Pentatone. I have developed an acquired taste for well-known symphonic pieces performed by smaller/chamber orchestras. This particular one brings a smile to my face. I love these symphonies and this is a new perspective. Like it. The sound is mindblowing too (I purchased the DSD 64fs files on NativeDSD).
  5. Hi, I am using the USBridge Signature Player with the Shanti Power Supply. Can I purchase and connect a DigiOne to it and use the two power lines from the Shanti (right now I use only one of the power outputs). I know that Allo offers a complete USBridge + Digione Combo with a dedicated house and the house that came with my USBridge is not suitable for the combo. So is it possible to get a Digione Sig and a new house?
  6. It is actually a repress of the 2003 SACD in a nicer packaging to match the WYWH sacd packaging.
  7. My Shanti is in a cabinet that is open to the front so the light hum is more audible than yours. The cabinet is closed on all sides except the front, so it acts like a horn speaker... Shanti and the Allo USBridge are on 24/7. Next time when I shut them down to burn a new OS on the SD card in the USBridge, I will try another power wall socket for the Shanti
  8. Thanks for providing that info. I have just thrown out a vacuum cleaner and I could save the power cord. The outer insulation does not mention it is 18AWG or other but I think one of the two insulated strains inside will do.
  9. It would be interesting to see what you from Allo suggest. I also have a low transformer hum coming fromthe Shanti (I can hear it when there is a quiet part of music playing). I have not connected the grinding points of the Shanti and the USBridge Sig Player because there is absolutely no information on how to do it, what wire/connectors to use. Even browsing audio webshops, I can not find grounding connectors on offer. How can I eliminate the hum?
  10. Hi, i have the same question. You did not get an answer, did you?
  11. Hi, I have been powering my USBridge Sig player with the Shanti (feeding my Lampizator DAC through USB - superb sound!) and the 1A output is currently unused. I wonder if I could try providing clean power to my other DAC, a KORG DS100, which takes 5V through its USB connection. Right now it receives power through a direct USB connection from a MAC Mini (but rarely used nowadays...). So I just wondered if I could connect the 5.2V/1.2A output of the Shanti to the USB connection between the Mini and the Korg inserting an Ifi iDefender dongle into the Mac mini (if 5V external power is connected to the iDefender through the USB-C input on the side, the power from the Mini is cut). I am only concerned about the 5.2V output of the Shanti. Is it OK to use as a 5V power through USB? An earlier post on the first page of this thread says that it is OK, but I want to double-check before I fry my KORG. thanks.
  12. What kind of computer do you run HQplayer on? Do you convert everything to DSD? Which filter? I stream everything in their native form from JRiver. No upsampling. But I have quite a few DSD64 and DSD128 albums.
  13. Thanks for your reply. I think I will skip this upgrade. I love audio gadgets but there is so much confusion and controversy that getting this up working seems a daunting task. I have been reading about the USBridge and the available operating systems on various forums. I remember your name from the Moode forum where you were getting help. :-) I am still absorbing the information that the chosen OS determines the sound while it is only supposed to forward a stream to a DAC through a clean USB bus (???). One user says the sound is thin on the USBridge running Moode another says it is muddy... someone says that the sound is like it were EQ-ed on Volumio... I am listening to my simple configuration of JRiver on Mac Mini to Lampizator via a single USB cable and it sounds amazing. Full bodied dynamic and detailed. I think I should not fix what ain't broken... You suggest RopieeeXL and HQplayer in ROON. Ropieee is not offered as a choice to come loaded on the card with the USBridge. I know you can download and flash it on the card yourself but then I have to read pages and pages of forums and setup descriptions of another OS. I am not even sure if I can flash that card using my Mac Mini's card reader. I have tried HQplayer but I hate it. Another programme that is daunting to configure. All those filter settings are mumbo-jumbo to me. You need to read thousands of forum pages to get a grip of it. I know ROON has a fantastic interface but now that I have been reading so much about ROON endpoints etc., I also read something about weaker SQ (???) and it has a steep subscription fee.
  14. I understand that Allo recommends to connect the grounding points of the USBridge and the Shanti power supply. I don't have a specific grounding wire. Is a thin speaker cable suitable?
