Another idea - Is is possible that some of your albums have been "split up"? I had that happen to me a lot in the past. When it happens, you see the same album 2 or more times in the albums/artist view, and each one contains a different set of the tracks. Then you can merge them all back into 1 album. Also regarding the different album count - do you have duplicate albums (same album different master/format)? That might explain some of the discrepancy.
