  1. AES / EBU seems to be the industry standard for transfer of audio according to the audio engineering society. I am talking about non pc playback systems here. If this is the case, why is it not standard feature on players and dacs ? Is it a cost factor ? Spdif / optical comes standard.
  2. I have a sample question : Can this device work only with the below setup for playing back songs ? NAS - Network Switch - Microrendu - DAC ( controlled by ipad ) I am keen not to have a PC in the playback chain. I connect to my NAS only when I want to add music.
  3. I have a chance planning to pick up and pair these 2 together. The sellers are different so I am not sure if they will work together. Will they work together without a glitch ? Thanks
  4. Soundwise I agree. I heard the below comment from some fellow audiophiles. I quote : "The NAS needs to run any 1 of the 4 types of media servers this device supports and to my knowledge only one of them runs on NAS - MinimServer which is DLNA/wireless. The rest like MPD, Roon, HQPlayer will need a separate PC as they don't have any NAS variants of their OS that can be installed on any NAS like Synology, QNAP, etc. Which brings me to the point it's a multi device playground i.e. NAS, PC, microRendu - and that's just source/transport and yes you also need a router or network switch or WiFi extender/repeater with ethernet port to connect the microRendu itself. That's 4 devices " The Aries or Mind can run without a PC in the picture, no ?
  5. I hardly see any discussion about this product. High-end Digital Sources - Streamer| Simaudio This seems to be similar to the Auralic Aries at very similar price point. Any users ?
  6. @ Kennyb123, I am a big piano fan. What dac do you use ? Many thanks..
  7. I have been using audirvana plus 2.3 for a few months now. The sound quality is fantastic. One thing that bothers me a lot is the extremely slow loading of information on my ipad when using the remote app. While browsing albums, it take almost full 30 seconds for the information ( albums) to load - sometimes more ! . If I then select an album, it takes a while to show up the selected album. If I then want to control the playback from the “ playing “ mode, again it is wait for it to stabilize.. The biggest wait is when I switch between album browser and playing mode. Is this normal ? I have a 16 gb mac mini. It is connected via wifi to my regular dlink router. My ipad mini connects via wifi to the same router. I do not use the itune integrated mode. I had posted this as a separate thread and never got any responses. Is this normal performance? Or is some hardware or wifi inadequacy causing all this ? Is there a recommended way to set it all up so that there is no lag ? I am used to playing physical cds and recently I used to own a naim network player using a remote app. The experience was very smooth.
  8. The audirvana plus remote. I have not integrated iTunes for playback..
  9. Thanks for the reply SavantGarde. I am surprised by the lack of responses to this thread. Is it because this is a normal performance expectation from the software ? I used to own a naim ndx. The remote app performance on the ipad was smooth. It could be that my expectations are higher. It would be nice if Audirvana plus users could chime in with their experiences.

  11. Question regarding firmware update for mytek stereo 192. The manual says that the update can only be done via firewire. I have a 2015 mac mini. I need to buy a thunder bolt to firewire adapter and firewire cable etc..now. What do people who only have windows laptop do when they have to do a firmware update ? I never see firewire output ports on windows laptops. Am I missing something ?
