  1. Thank you jimdukey, but we are discussing how to access Terminal in Recovery Mode, your suggestion of course refers to normal use.
  2. Dear AudioCanyon and RunHomeSlow, Thank you again for your advice. Sadly my problem goes on: despite full access to the menus at the top of the screen, the menu with Terminal does not appear at all on both my MacBook Pro and Mac Mini. Having browsed further, it seems to be an identified problem affecting some computers and not others. No solution was forthcoming though. If anyone else has experienced such a thing and found a solution, I am eager to read you...
  3. Thank you for your help, and also Thank you to RunHomeSlow for your advice in changing the IOAudioFamily.kext to El Capitan version in Sierra. All seems quite clear and easily doable, but I stumble on a major hurdle: when I reboot my macs in Recovery Mode (1 MacBook Pro, 1 Mac Mini) I am unable to access the Terminal as it does not appear in the menu as described in your explanations. I cannot therefore disable the System Integrity Protection. Any suggestion?
  4. It looks to me that it may turn out to be a waste of time as well… Yours and ours.
  5. Dear ricka, sorry all the same for not picking up on american lore. Here, in England, we are on the records for being more reliant on anything Guinness and to the same effect, we would have pointed to one of your late fellow American : Hans Langseth! A Hipster from before the word existed https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Langseth Sorry to all for this deviation from topic.
  6. What's the relevance of your post ? Please do not export American politics on this neutral forum.
  7. Quite right! I for one have used the Grouping for other purpose on my 90000+ tracks, and for each and every file, it grates me a bit to see the Grouping tag content displayed when playing the files. A simple toggle in the preferences would have probably been implementable right from the start of use of that function in Audirvana. All that I am advocating is the recognition that the Grouping tag is just that: a "do what you jolly well please with me" tag. Audirvana should hopefully reflect that in time
  8. Dear Damien, I am mildly disappointed that you should knock Apple's proprietary system. After all, all of your customers have bought into Apple's proprietary system, … and Audirvana is only available on this proprietary system, as far as one is aware. On the very topic of Work/Movement and despite it coming much later than the previous Grouping accommodation to manage Compositions and Movements in classical music, I find the iTunes novel approach quite fit for the purpose and I can only invite you to consider making its use available to you customers. It could for example be set up through an option in the Preferences. Easier said than done, I'll grant you, but very much worth considering in future iterations of Audirvana. As an example; it certainly took some time for Audirvana to allow the use of the sort fields, but Audirvana came around making the best of those fields for the benefit of the customer. I shall add I find it a bit unfair to denigrate iTunes which has been the historic music player on which your software has been piggy-backing once upon a time. With my deepest respect and gratitude for the wonderful job you have done so far with Audirvana 2, and its soon to be released 3 version.
  9. If you have previously computed Replay Gain, the data would have been added to the files metadata. Therefore, in the new scan, there would be no need to analyse those files again.I think such a duration for a scan from scratch is quite above typical. the type of support of the files may influence that scan duration though. Are you files stored "locally", or on a Nas. If so, do you access it through Ethernet or wirelessly?
  10. Audirvana + and Audirvana Remote album display inconsistency. First I would like to thank Damien for the 2.6 iteration of a software we all love. I am particularly happy with the use of the "Sort Artist" and its implementation. However, it seems to me that the IOS remote app does not offer the display of Albums by "Sort Artist". Have I missed something? Is it a planned evolution for future versions of the IOS app? I am sure someone could alleviate my fears on that account, but who will?
  11. To Damien, Dear Damien, I see with great interest you intend to implement replay gain control in a future release. Do you intend to allow it on certain types of files only? Quid of ALAC files with the iTunes SoundCheck metadata? Thank you again for the many improvements to Audirvana+
  12. Thank you Damien, and a happy new year to you too. 2.3.2 hits the sweet spot for me as far as Sound Quality is concerned. After a bit of SQ straying of late, which had me tweaking Isotope Audio Filter like a man possessed, the magic is back.
  13. Wow! I am impressed... Does that include filling automatically the Grouping field in the "holyer than thou" way too? thought not…. ?
  14. I am sorry to butt in about this point. Being part of those who have adopted a consistent manner of naming tracks and filling their metadata over many years before Hi Res files and Audirvana+ were available, I am welcoming all these new possibilities Audirvana+ offers, but I do not see the sense in forcing the display of the Grouping metadata, if it contains anything, while playing a track. Astute as one may consider the use of the Grouping field in the way Damien suggests, I have made for a long time a different use of that field, possibly like many other users, and I do not wish to be forced to change when I have dealt differently with the matter of classical music files. The forced display of the Grouping field is felt as a frustrating distraction. Somewhat I cannot help myself thinking it unhelpful that it is impossible to opt out of the forced display of the Grouping field while playing a track. Since we are in the days building up to Christmas, I wish AudirSanta brought a way to make use of the Sort… fields many of us have cared to fill consistently over very many years. Now, that would be helpful! As for those who are not AudirSanta, Merry Christmas all.
